Some have two batteries - not all. Open your spare tire well, remove the spare if there is one, remove the woofer assembly if there is one. Is there a battery now revealed? If so - you have two. The other one is under the front drivers seat. You have to remove 2 triple-square bolts from the front (and two plastic trim pieces from the passenger's compartment) - and the seat tilts back to access it. But I suspect that's the one they replaced.

IIRC - the second battery is used for starting on the models with 2 batteries. Mine only has one - thank Dog!

BTW - how did you check/open the starter? That's sorta a big job..

my starter was super sluggish for a while also. i changed the battery first which slightly helped, but not much. After a couple weeks i decided to change the starter out and now its starts up strong with no problem. It is a fairly large job because you need to take apart the intake manifold to get down to where the starter is. If you haven't updated your coolant pipes yet than this would be a good time to do so, because the starter is in the same location.

I've seen them listed on Ebay and on-line sources for less then $200. It apparently is not a starter exclusive to our engines, so aftermaket is available. Dunno how good the less expensive ones are - but I'd probably give one a try if it can be replaced without R&R of the new coolant pipes (and I believe it can be..)

BTW - did you check if you have two batteries? The one usually overlooked is the one in the rear, and IIRC - that's the one used to start the car when there are two.

Yeah ebay is your best source. Just make sure you get the one for your specific engine (v8 or v6)

Yes, KESSY is the "Keyless Entry and Start SYstem".

With a second rear battery,
If your using the plastic DUMMY key to start your engine, KESSY uses the front MAIN battery.

With a second rear battery,
Using the METAL key to start your engine will enable the REAR battery to be utilized for start function.

The option code for the second battery is IJ2C. Look at your options sticker under your rear cargo floor panel.
