Air Suspension and Shop Lifts

This may seem like a ridiculous question, but since it was brought to my attention I thought i'd ask here...

Are there any concerns about the Air Suspension level when the Cayenne is placed on a shop lift (or otherwise lifted off the ground)? I had one tire shop tell me they needed me to raise it to the highest position and then disable it before they would mount tires.

Anyone heard anything like this before?

When you do that it just keeps the system from relieving the air in the system and having to air up later or worst case lower while youre under it. Haha the last time my car was in the shop they didn't do it and after they let it down, the car was slammed. Lol no biggie it just took a little while for the air compressor to fill them back up and then I was good to go.

Place your vehicle in the highest offroad setting and then press and hold the level button up for ~ 10 seconds and it will lock it in place! You'll know it is because there will be a dash indicator that looks like your cayenne with an up/down arrow in the middle.

Haha it's just you and me in this forum, huh?!

Yeah, this is exactly what I did. But I wasn't sure it was totally necessary when putting it on a lift? If it is, that's cool. I just want to make sure.

For that matter, couldn't you just deactivate the air suspension, regardless of height selected?

Yes, you can shut the system off in any position. It will come back on by itself when you drive off.

Sure, I understand this.

My question is are you REQUIRED to disable the air suspension before lifting the vehicle off the ground to avoid damaging any of the components?

Thanks!

Doesn't it say to do this in the manual? I'll have to go and have a look at mine.

Yes! You must put it in "Service Mode". Meaning all the way up and locked out.

I've heard of another Cayenne owner that went in for service at a none Porsche shop and they blew the bag seals when lowering it back to the ground from being lifted on a lift.

The manual says service mode is at the normal setting, not all the way up. At least that's what it says in my '08 manual...

This happens often with airmatic Benzs.
