Warranty about to expire on '08 GTS - sell/trade-in?
So, my CPO warranty expires in August, and I'm wondering what I should do. Should I think about getting rid of it? I love the car, but the peace of mind of the warranty is definitely a plus. Had a few things fixed, under warranty, that would have been very expensive otherwise. Just turned 50k miles too.
What say you guys?

True that! And you pretty much know what's gonna fail right? The GTS isn't prone to cooling system explosions like the earlier V8's. If your automatic is working OK, it will likely continue to. If you don't have automatic, then the clutch/transmission life are up to you. By 50k you should have the bugs out.. and just have things like the cardan shaft to look forward to, and probably some front end work. Cost will be LOTS less then you get hit by trading it in.
Of course some people just GOTTA have a warranty, and if you're one of those people, I'll give'ya $3,000 cash for that P!G GTS.. I'll even come get it (good opportunity to visit my son..)

With the cash you would be spending for a extension or a 3rd party warranty. Put your money in your bank and save it for repairs if they are needed and keep your Cayenne if you like it. You can always sell it or trade it in for a new one in the future...

I bought an extended warranty at the dealer when I bought my Cayenne. The factory warranty and the aftermarket warranty expired without paying out a dime. The extended warranty was a waste of money. I've got 102K on the clock right now and still going strong. I have no issues being "naked" from a warranty perspective.

V - i'm in a very similar position - my CPO expires in about 8 months and I have 60k on her. When I first bought the car I thought I was only going to hang on until about 4 months shy of CPO so the next buyer would enjoy some CPO peace of mind. Now that I'm over 2 years into it I think I'm in for the long haul as I haven't seen anything I'd want to replace mine with. I originally thought I'd go for the new style but I had a loaner and there were a lot of picky little things about the new model that didn't sit well with me e.g. shape of the mirrors. So, I'm in for the long haul - will replace the PCM 2.1 this spring when the new panasonic AVIC comes out & should be set for a few years. Obviously there's no right answer but good luck

Hhhhmmm....
I just bought my '08 GTS, it has 43K miles and is out of warranty May '12 or 50K miles. Given it's current rock-solid condition, it's complete paper trail of perfect maintenance and low issues/problems, combined with the loooow price I paid, I could care less that I will be w/o warranty. I'll likely own it for 2-3 years. Let's see, new MSRP = $90K in '08, I paid $45K. It looks and drives like new...I guess that leaves a few $ for any maintenance or repairs that come up along the way.
No offense to OP (new is fun!), just different strokes I guess...

Well, the warranty offered here in Germany includes a free Porsche loaner car EVERY TIME your ride is in the shop for warranty-related issues. Panamera anyone? That alone is worth half the price of it!
I'm a warranty kinda guy too. But I won't dish out $10k for it. $2k for one year is about right.
