05 CTT - oil / transmission fluids

3 questions:
1. The dealer told me the car has 1500 miles on current oil change.
Should I trust him, or do an oil change myself?

2. Transmission fluid - same as question #1 (he did not say when trannie fluid was last changed)

3. What type of oil should I use for the CTT. I live in central Texas (Austin) and temps here get quite high in the summer. In winter (Dec/Jan), they could get pretty low too (likely into the low 40s sometimes into 30s).
Would need recommendation on viscosity and brand (I was going to get Mobil 1 extended performance, 5W30 full synthetic, where they say is good up to 15K miles between changes).

Your opinions are greatly appreciated (anyone knows more about cayennes than me at this time - something I really plan to change soon).

1. How would we know? You saw/talked-to/made a deal with the dealer. None of us know anything about him. Does he provide any proof of the oil change? If not - consider it BS.

2. Ditto. And transmission fluid isn't called for low mileage change.

3. Who knows. This leads to unending postings of OPINIONS (with very little in the way of facts.) Join RENNTECH.ORG - pay the fee - read the Porsche TSB's on approved oil. Then do it.

Anyone can chime in on grade of oil and their opinion on what a decent brand/grade combo could be for my driving environment?
Will appreciate it. Thanks.

Mobil 1 0-40. I live in Dallas- and have the same temps, it doesn't get cold enough to warrant any a higher/lower viscosity oil than factory spec. As noted above-you can search the interweb for days on end and get 1000 opinions on what is "the best" oil. You can pick up 5qt jugs at walmart very reasonably priced and your CTT holds 8 and burns oil for the turbos so you can keep a little extra on hand.

Oil info

Check out www.lnengineering.com.......all you ever want to know about oil....you will find that Mobil 1 has been reformulated in lieu of environmental concerns and most experts are not recommending it anymore. Motul and Jake Gibbs make a great product. I have a 997.2 TT and just took it back to the dealer and had Motul 8100 put in it.....David
