Upgrading non-bose stereo in 09 Cayenne GTS?

Going to look at an 09 Cayenne GTS which has PCM w/ Navi but no Bose. How bad is the non-bose stereo and is it possible to add an amp and upgrade the speakers while keeping the PCM without too much trouble?

Thanks in advance!

I have been looking into doing the same on our '06 with Nav and non-bose. What I have found is that it really depends on what you are attempting to get out of it. Do you want something that is just a little bit better dynamic range or do you want something that is loud and has good clean tight bass? I would find a good local car audio shop... don't go to Best Buy or the like... and ask them what your options are. The speaker locations are fairly difficult to get to and behind some expensive and frustrating trim panels... unless you have a lot of experience with car audio install I would not recommend a DIY. A good car audio shop should be able to identify what you need and work within you budget for a solution.

Thanks for the response, I guess my biggest concern is being able to retain the PCM to keep it stock looking and just upgrade the rest to improve the sound. I will ask the local car audio shop that's done some work in my other cars and see what they say I guess.

No one else has done this on an 09-10?

Thanks!

That part is simple. There are plenty of line output converters that allow the signal to be grabbed from the PCM, cleaned up, sent to amps and then speakers.

the AudioControl LC8i is a good example
