Question Engine Oil Flushes

Ever since one of my ignition coils failed in the winter of 2009, my non-DFI 4.5L Twin Turbo engine's oil has been dirty and hard to clean up even with frequent oil changes. Previously, it was clear and clean.

I am wondering about helping clean it by using an oil system flush.

What is the better flush product that is compatible with our turbo's?

Some oil flushes (namely Gunk's) say clearly not for use with turbo engines.

Thanks in Advance!

FYI I tend to change oil & filters every 3,500 miles. I use Motul 8500 pure synthetic Class V 10-40w year round with 8 ounces of tufoil as an additive.

I would just flush it more frequent. Whens the last time you changed the air filters?

Every time the oil is changed, the filter is changed, too.

Just installed new intake system but air filters have been changed early all this time.

Oil is supposed to keep carbon that gets past the rings in suspension. It sounds as if your oil is doing it's job. Unless deposits start building up on internal engine parts - it isn't worth worrying about how the oil looks.. Given the excessive oil changes you're doing - using a "flush" would probably gain you nothing, and risk bearing damage in the engine (flushes are mostly kerosene or stoddard solvent) and possible seal leaks (the stuff attacks the rubber.)

I'd stop looking at the dipstick appearance, and just check the level. There is a reason Porsche makes the dipstick end black (so owners don't obsess over the color of their oil.) And I'd also forget about the "Tufoil".. You might spend some time over on Bobistheoilguy.. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=1012423
