Spoiler alert: A brand new Techart lowering module for 08-10 Cayennes. I got a really good price from this German tuner since he had another customer change their mind after he got the module. Not to mention that the Euro exchange rate is now working in my favor.

As proof that I am running out of reasonable mods, I searched for and picked up a new Techart lowering module, even though my CTT is already lowered through PIWIS. The main additional features I am looking for is:

1) Air suspension automatically dropping to loading level when vehicle is locked
2) Added clearance in highest setting for pending winter conditions (previous lowering method dropped all height settings across the board)
3) Potentially better dampening (unlike some people, I already thought the dampening was good when lowered).

I should have it in about a week or so.

I know you are supposed to take it to the dealer, however, I am going to attempt to program it with my Durametric. It should save me a few nickels

Thanks! Looking forward to surprising people with the audible sound of the air suspension lowering to its lowest stance while walking away.

Just wait until winter time when it will be dropping about 6" from it highest to lowest settings. I can just see the confusion already ...

You can see the price by clicking the pic... and you got a damn good deal!! Does this require lowering link or does it reprogram the computer to reset the ride heights?

I got mine from a shop that was closing here in Boston, got some HUGE Techart tips as well.

I was actually able to negotiate down from that price. See, now I feel compelled to say the final price When all was said and done, we agreed on 550 euros shipped. That is about $700 for a brand new module shipped from Germany. Too good of an offer to pass up considering the $3K original asking price.

It does not require lowering links. The Techart lowering module is actually an OEM Bosch computer that they reprogram at Techart and then relabel. So it is a complete replacement for my current one.

I paid $350 for the module and the tips. There was no way I could pass. Retail on the tips is $2200 and the module as you said is $3k.

Word of advice, find a good private Porsche garage to put in the lowering module, the new Porsche testers that the dealers have don't work (at least none of the four I went to...)

There's a good deal on a gemballa module in the marketplace. As far as exhaust tips go how restrictive are the stock tips? Is it affecting hp with a tubi aftermarket exhaust?

The stock tips for a CTT/S are surprisingly restrictive in their dual-outlet design. This isn't easy to explain without pictures.

In a nutshell, each tip has two outlets. If you look closely at the OEM exhaust tip, you will see the one of the two outlets is "pinched" when being routed out from the main pipe. This means that functionally it will flow less air and be a potential choke point.The aftermarket tips run full size pipes to both outlets and will increase the flow of exiting exhaust gas.

With that said, I doubt this is problem if you just have a Tubi exhaust. I think you are fine. For others like myself, who have a larger diameter and restriction-free exhaust system, it is important that you remove any "potential" bottlenecks like this.

I will try to post a side-by-side comparison of the stock tips and the new larger tips when I get them next week.

UPDATE:

Just got my Techart module in today thanks to the delay in JFK customs

So everyone is aware, I was able to program/calibrate this module myself with my Durametric in my garage in about an hour - no need to take it to the dealer (winning!). The hardest part was getting the right measures and then converting them into millimeters.

FWIW, I did not like the stock Techart ride height in the rear. The rear were about 1" higher than the front when done per specs. I decided to lower the rears by inputting 1/2" higher numbers to drop the rear an additional half inch.

My initial driving test suggests that the dampening is infact better with the Techart module than my PIWIS lowered factory module. Also, the auto low-to-loading level feature (when armed) is just too cool!

congrats!!

i know the feature of normal to loading is cool but i would think after a while it would take a toll on suspension going up and down.

Pics? Also if I were to get a module a dura metric could reprogram it on its own?? So do you need an aftermarket module or could you purchase a oem one and just reprogram it yourself? I understand that you wouldn't get the auto load level feature....

Yeah.. I hear you - had the same thought myself. Then I realized that I am constantly manually adjusting the suspension anyway. Manually lowering it into loading level before exit, raising when driving off, raising for pothole-riddled road / see over traffic - not to mention when the suspension decides to adjust itself when I am on a hill or off-camber. All in all, I figured the differences were awash. I guess I have a compressor rebuild in my future

You can use the Durametric to calibrate the air suspension on the factory OEM module and the Techart module. This means that you can feed it values that will cause the suspension to lower. I have done this with both modules. Just note that with the factory OEM module, you will lower all the levels equally when doing this - so your highest setting will be reduced as well.

I will probably put up a thread for people who want to lower their factory module with a Durametric. Will try to take some screenshots.
