CTTS (380mm) Rotors in a CTT (350mm)

Has anyone on here with a Cayenne Turbo, installed the Turbo S brake rotors into their car?

I was wondering what would be needed to accomplish this.

I am talking 2003-2006 generation
The CTT has front rotors that are 350mm size.
The CTTS has front rotors that are 380mm size.
The size difference is 30mm or about 1 and 1/8 of an inch.

Would I need to replace calipers too? Pads? Anything else would need to be replaced?

Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure those rotors will not fit under the standard Turbo calipers. You could upgrade to Turbo S calipers, or build a bracket to space your caliper out a little further. If you upgrade calipers, you'll need the correct pads as well.

but that would be all then?
- Rotors (380mm)
- Calipers (to fit the rotors)
- Pads

No other stuff? If so, that is what I was kind of expecting, but wanted confirmation.

Yes. porscheSpeedDemon upgraded his CTT to CTTS calipers, rotors, backing plates, pads.

He has to run 19" wheels for winters now.

Personally, I don't see the advantage. The parts are about 4x more expensive than the already powerful CTT brakes and you limit your wheel choices.

The CTTS parts are basically a 1 year limited production vehicle part. While the CTT brakes were also on the S and Touraregs. So much easier and cheaper to get replacement parts for.

Yes I have done this, and love it. I was looking for upgrades for the standard turbo brakes and was getting frustrated with some of the results I was getting, so I just went with TurboS brakes. They were used from 05-10. There was no TurboS in 05, but the E81 powerkit cars also received the same treatment. Also the Cayenne GTS uses the same Turbo brakes (350mm) Personally, I had no intentions of ever running any wheels smaller than a 19" (which it came with) so it worked fine, I run Ice and Snow tires on the 19s in the winter and Bridgestone 20s in the summer. I understand they're not a cost effective upgrade for some people, but they were exactly what I was looking for. ALso know that it is VERY limited to what pads you can find. Aftermarket pads are VERY readily available for the standard turbo brakes, not so much for the S brakes. I've found only a handful of people who even make them. If you just want better stopping power, a good slotted rotor and aftermarket pad may be all you need. If you want to really change the car visually as well (which the Turbo S rotor will do, and fill up the wheel, not to mention the 2 piece rotor looks awesome) then maybe it's worth considering. Oh one other note, I have all my brake pad sensors jumped, so that's one less expense I have to worry about. Not something I recommend to just everyone unless you really do check them a good bit of the time, which is super easy.

i am not fully sure i want to go this way yet. I am trying to understand the cost and effort infolved first.
How do the 2 piece rotors differ from the standard turbo brakes visually? anyone have pictures to compare? Trying to see how they are different (Turbo S vs Turbo).

Thanks.

I have looked at images of the 350mm rotors for Turbo and the 380mm rotors for Turbo S, and I do not see any difference in them.

Some reference the 380mm rotors are 2 piece design. Can anyone explain exactly how the 380mm rotors look like so I can spot them when viewing?

And, why are the 380mm rotors so much more expensive than the 350mm. Diff is in size but hardly enough to justify 1000 bucks more. Still done same way on same machines probably.

Thanks.

mine is not a TT S, but the brakes look like the ones in the TT S you showed here, except for the slotted rotors (mine are not slotted - but about to change when I do brakes soon).

The turbo one you showed seems to have been painted red, is that correct? Mine has the Porsche logos.

The main thing I was trying to illustrate is the 2 piece rotor. The first picture, the caliper decals were just worn off or were being replaced. Same caliper. Also you can see the larger bracket on the Turbo S caliper that spaces it away to make room for a larger rotor. It sounds like you're likely better off just upgrading your standard Turbo brakes, there are a lot of options when doing so. I have some pics of my own conversion somewhere, will see if I can find them I was using drilled/slotted rotors on the standard brakes for a while until I replaced.

Thanks! Photoshop CS3. Duplicated original layer, black and white converted duplicate, used eraser tool to erase black and white off of the color layer beneath, in a nutshell.

The first pic the entire rotor is all one piece; the disk and the hat. In the second pic, the disk and the rotor hat are bolted together, and also the hat is, I believe, some sort of stainless material, as it rarely discolors and cleans up very easily. That is the main visual difference between the original 2 photo links I posted. In the first pic, the whole rotor is one piece, and with the EVOMS kit, you can see the center section bolts to the disk.

Now I see - the bolts at the inner edge of rotors...cool. I will not know what to look for. Thanks.
