Oil leakage question?

Hey guys,

Today I went under my 2005 CTT (87K mi))and removed the covers to check out on things. I open the bottom coverage and I saw puddle of oil covered the tummy of the oil pan and the drainage bolt area. I also notice the oil is seeping from ways up from the oil pan unit. It's pretty messy oil behind the plastic covers. Has anyone experience this? Those with warranty and extended warranty...do your warranties cover oil leak like this?

Thanks in advance

I've seen cracked oil drain plugs leak on Cayenne's, but I've never seen the pan itself leak. I wonder if both of your drain plugs are leaking. Are you able to see the rear drain plug from where your looking ?

I was on my back with the air suspension at its highest. I can only see the front drain plug and the transmission plug. Is the rear drain plug somewhere further up front or back near the transmission? Most of the oil are on the driver side area underneath the pan and on the frame structure. Planning to take it in the dealer this week. Hopefully the extended warranty covers it.

Another note: My engine is acting up. I heard a THUNK! under the hood a couple times when I come to a full stop. Happens only in the morning and PSM is turned off and it is on manual shift. Any ideas what could create this THUNK? Never happen before. I was like... I will report this the dealer as well. Thanks for the response.

The second drain plug is located in the back towards the transmission on one of the highest parts of the pan. If you are only hearing the thunk when you're stopping, it sounds like the lower control arm bushings. I would recommend that if that is the case to upgrade to the turbo S front control arm kit. With higher-density, heavier-duty bushings, you won't have to deal with a torn or loose bushing again, and you will have a more responsive and predictable ride.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Thank god the thunk is not engine related. I will update what the dealer has to say.

Those engine thunks tend to be a little more expensive. Hopefully it's not too bad and you get the problem worked out ASAP.

It happened again this morning. Its in the morning time when it happen the most. I'm hoping my extended warranty will cover for the engine thunks. If not I will have to take it to my Indy.

Ok this is what the Dealer reported. They found oil dripping from bank 2 valve cover highest point. To fix the problem you have to replace bank 2 oil seperator/valve cover updated part with gaskets. They also found oil leaking from upper seal for driver's turbo pressure pipe. They recommend to replace upper O-ring seal for driver's turbo pressure pipe. My extended warranty will not cover for the issues. Before I take it to my Indy Porsche mechanic I would like tackle this on my own. Anyone here fix this problem on there own? If so how difficult is it? Many thanks.
