2010 Cayenne GTS wheels

My vehicle came stock with the 21" wheels. I have 19K miles on my car and now in need of new tires again (3rd set). I am considering replacing the wheels and going with a 20" wheel and 275/40/20 tires. Does anyone have any recommendations on whether to go with the 20" x 10 all the way around or to go with the 20" x 8.5 in front and 20" x 10 on rear? I would appreciate any input.

the stock GTS wheels are some of the nicest Porsche made - why change?

Reason for wheel change

I do like the wheels as well. The issue I have is with the limited selection of tires available for the 21" wheels, and of course the cost. A set of tires on the 21" wheels is always in excess of 2K. If I go with a 20" wheel, comparable tires are less than 1k for a set. I average 9,500 miles per set of tires currently.

If you're in the US, Tirerack has N-spec OEM max-performance summer 21" tires at ~$1600 before tax/shipping. I've got the 21" rims as well wearing PZero Rosso N0 tires currently, and even with some uneven wear in the back from over-inflation they lasted ~20k miles. Have you confirmed that the alignment and tire pressures are OK?

I agree that 20" rims would still be more economical though.

I have the GTS wheels as well I agree, the tire choices are slim. Those wheels are actually 21x10.5 and are a perfect fit on the cayenne as well as a perfect fit for the 295-35-21.

Fortunatly there is an answer! I have been running the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantia tires for a while now and I am very impressed. there are a couple other members on here that have taken the plunge as well and are very happy. Vredestein is like the Goodyear of Europe and just started coming to the states a couple years ago.

Don't be leary of the unknown, these are quality tires and the only reason I tout them so much is because I feel for others like myself that have the 21 inch wheels and limited/expensive tire choices.

There are two places that have a killer price on these. Group A Motorsports in new york @ 306- ea. And DFW performance tire in Grapevine Tx. DFW's price went up recently on their site but they have been price matching Group A for me @ 306- Just ask for Cecil.

If your GTS came with 10" wide rims all the way around (like my CTT), then why would you be considering putting 8.5" wide rims in the front?

Are we talking about the same wheels? The largest and widest OEM wheels for the 957 are 21x10. Have the 21" Cayenne Sport wheels and they are definitely not 21x10.5:

Looks like you are right. OEM is 21x10 (offset 50), not 21x10.5:

Those are indeed the wheels on my car. Do you feel there would be any compromise if I went with a 20" x 10" wheel and 275/45/20 tire? BTW the wheels I am looking at are made by Ace Alloy-Mesh 7. Thanks again everyone.

My bad!!! I did think they were 10.5... either way I get a ton of compliments on the GTS wheels and I don't even think they are so special. now HRE's, those are special:-)

Either way, 21's or 20's you should take a look into the tires because they rock and carry an awesome price.

I agree that why would you want to go 8.5 in the front? I would stay with the same size all the way around. I know you can get bigger width but the 295-35-21 is such a perfect fit. Just like Porsche intended.
