2010 GTS Brake job
I am sure this has been covered before but I just wanted to share my experience doing a brake replacement (Pads/Rotors/Hardware). I got my 2010 GTS back in June and it had 19K onit. When I was checking it out I noticed the pads looked good but the rotors looked worn (had a noticeable lip) which I used for price negotiation.Apparently the previous owner had replaced the pads but not the rotor; I measured the fronts at 31.1mm and the rears at 26.4mm. So the fronts definitely needed to be replaced, and I decided to do the rear as well. I called the local dealer and they wanted about $2400 to do front/back, so after reading up on it I decided to make it a DIY project. I decided to go OEM equivalent and went with the ECS service kit, which use Meyle rotors and Bosch pads. The fronts were super easy, took me about an hour and a half taking my time. Because the front wheel can be turned it was easy to access the caliper bolts. The rears were more effort and took me about two hours only because it is harder to get to the caliper bolts. With the suspension fully extended (air) and locked down there is plenty of room to get a short (18") breaker bar in there to get the bolts loose. You have to remove the brake line bracket to get easier access to the upper bolt. I had to use a flex adapter to torque the rear bolts because of the cramped space. So it took me about 4 hours and I saved about $2000.
Front brakes need replacement. Down to 31mm up front.
With the wheel turned it was easy to get to the caliper bolts up front.
This is the rear bottom caliper bolt.
To get better access to the rear upper bolt (larger circle) you need to remove the brake line bracket (smaller circle).
All done. The rotors have some kind of corrosion resistant coating on them.

Yeah I really didn't give you guys enough credit. The ECS brake service kit was very complete (all the correct parts for my model/year), reasonable price, and it shipped quickly. I went with the economy kit which seems to be on par with the OEM parts. The stainless steel rotor screws were a nice plus.

Yeah if your a DIY person it saves a lot of cash. The main savings is in the rotors because the hardware is Porsche, the Bosch pads and Meyle rotors are similar to the OEM parts. The Meyle rotors are plain Jane made in china (what isn't) so they are very inexpensive. I did some research and they seem to get good feedback from users on other forums. The rotors seem well made and I have no issues with out of round, warping or wobbling. It remains to be seen if the material holds up (wear) as well as higher cost rotors. But for a little over $400 I figured I would give them a shot.
