Looking at this GTS ... PHOTO Inside ... Should I pull the Trigger?
Currently I have a nice mint condition 2008 S which has about 11 months left on it's CPO. However, I've always wanted the better PCM, power and looks of a 2009 GTS. I have driven a 2006 Turbo S, but I just didn't care for the Gold color exterior, also....for me...the slight turbo lag was a bit of a downer. I prefer the less complex normally aspirated engine...just me...or maybe the Turbo will grow on me?
So I have been searching and found a GTS that fits my preferences...2009, silver exterior with black OEM Sportplus 21" wheels. Has the newer PCM. This one has just standard (non-full leather) interior. Previous owner did install dual integrated DVD players into the back head rest...look nice and flush, like factory. Dealer wants $40,999.00. No CPO warranty, just your standard 3 days return and then a 30 days dealer plus 30 day dealer/3rd party power train warranty. 51k+ miles and brakes have been just done by Porsche dealer (showed me Porsche receipt). Only 1 owner and Car Fax is clean.
What you guys think....good deal on this GTS?
OR....would you buy a 2006 Turbo S...price, miles and everything being equal?
Is there a difference in the type or size of the Turbos between the 2006 & 2008?

Here's my opinion:
You'll be getting a slight bump in horsepower, a newer PCM, and a Sport Design package. You'll be losing your CPO warranty. I don't know how much this deal would cost you, but is it worth it to you?
I'm guessing the GTS is not at a Porsche dealer, or the lack of CPO would be a potential red flag.
I would personally go for a Turbo S with similar miles (though I would expect it to be at least $5k cheaper). The one you posted above with the Sport Design side skirts looks fantastic. Turn PSM off, and the turbo lag is not so noticeable.
To your question, the 957 Turbos use larger turbines compared to the 955 Turbos. I should note that I've always been more of a fan of forced induction, so there is some bias to what I say.

My answer may seem harsh, but you asked. If you are asking a bunch of forum members for buying advice, you are not ready to purchase anything. Changing cars for a PCM means you bought the first one, and it't not exactly what you want. Now, you're again not sure which way to go.. . . My advice is to wait until you find an exact match for your desires/needs and until then, replace your radio system with a very nice central audio system that would keep you in your car and only cost $2,000-$3,000. Personally, I would NEVER change vehicles and go from a known to an unknown for a PCM or similar. Additionally, you already stated that you didn't like the turbo so why even put it into the mix?

You answered your own question bro! "I prefer the less complex normally aspirated engine"
If thats what you prefer, then do that. The GTS has hot styling and the one you posted looks great out of the box. If you are worried about CPO, drop another $3K and have the dealer sell you a robust aftermarket warranty that they will honor.
GO WITH YOUR GUT!
