Angry Cayenn Turbo 957 - Reverse Camera

G'day all,

Reverse camera hatch has suddenly ceased to open...I can see the camera remains active as the tight spot behind the hatch is somewhat visible on the display yet the bloody camera hatch refuses to open...anyone had similar problem and/or any input on a possible fix without having to visit the local dealership?

Cheers!

Mine refused to close this week. Put a little WD-40 on it and it works perfect again. I don't know if you can get any lubricant in to the motorized shaft with it shut but it will probably take care of it.

All done! You were right about not being able to get any lubricant on the mechanism while it was closed so I removed the whole rear panel which made it a little easier to get to the bottom of the camera. A bit of poking around at the bottom of the camera got it to open in a few minutes, then applied lubricant and back in working order now! Thx mate.

Note: If & when removing the panel, hold securely as there are connected wires which have little leeway so be gentle as to avoid causing damage to the wires.

Same boat used WD-40 which helps, it no longer gets stuck closed but it does occasionally get stuck open. I think I'm going to need a replacement camera at some point.

Hey!

My reversing camera is stuck open. Where did you get WD 40 in Doha (I'm a new arrival...).

Hey Ross,

Pretty much in any major department store in Doha you'll find a 'Carrefour' supermarket. I got mine from Villagio Mall Carrefour.

If you don't know your way around yet I can send you directions/map.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Reverse camera won't open again now...I give up!!

Thanks, I'm familiar with Carrefore, I spent the first while at the Grand Hyatt with Lagoona across the road, then Kempinski with City Centre near by.

We have now settled in The Pearl.

I will look when we engage in the Qatar national sport - shopping - tomorrow.

Cheers

WD-40 is not a lubricant. It's a "Water Displacing" agent. It may lubricate for a bit - but then what doesn't evaporate becomes gummy and makes things worse than before. Find some actual penetrating oil..

Common issue...I actually had my camera assembly replaced under the CPO warranty.
