955 Turbo Cold Air Intake Install

Guys, I am having trouble take off the MAF on the 955 Turbo. The top of the bolt head are upside down and nearly impossible to access.

The next idea by just looking at it is to unscrew the clamp on the bottom side of the MAF but it is very difficult to see and very tight to try and unscrew.

I tried fitting a flexible attachment and looks like it might work but want to see what others have experience before I start tearing it apart and finding that I can put it back together...

If you have to remove the MAF, remove the maf housing as well. All you have to do is remove the two worm screw clamps on either side.

Also, once you get it removed, you will notice that the MAF is installed with security 5-point torx like screws. If you do not have it already, you will need to get this tool.

On the turbo the top part of the MAF housing has no hose clamp.

The bottom part of the MAF housing has a worm hose clamp but it's really difficult to get to and I was wondering if I was missing something or if that is what it is and just need to take it off?

You did not say what brand/type of CAI you got-

On that bottom hose with the worm clamp be careful. When yo pull the maf housing out of the lower tube it is VERY tight. That bottom tube is plastic and is really hard to stretch enough to get the housing to slide out. If you want to PM me and supply your gmail I can use google drive to send you the factory workshop manual.

Guys, does anyone know how to take off the connection point that's circled in red on the US passenger side of the engine intake air box? I tried pulling on it and no luck. Do I just pry harder or is there a way to take it off without breaking it?

Also, what is it? Is it an air intake temperature sensor? When I look behind the air box it looks blank...any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

thats the hose that connects to your air compressor...what brand intake are you installing? In order to take that off use a flat head screw driver..you will notice a groove on one side stick the flat in there and turn to separate the two its basically a clip that holds the hose.

Okay so I got the green ring cap snapped off. Now how the heck do I pry the connection apart?

Once the green cap is off, you press in the release collar (towards the hose) then pull hose off. The release collar is under the plastic cap.

Success THANK YOU. I can definitely hear the turbos spooling now. Just getting used to it. Can't tell a power difference though...not even butt dyno difference. What kind of additional power are cone filters supposed to provide?

Probably a slight decrease due to the fact they're drawing very hot air into the engine from behind the radiator, unlike the factory air intake which draws cool air in from just behind the front grille. The stock intercoolers are already fully tasked with the factory design; asking them to cool down even hotter air is a losing proposition. Add to that the fact that these "high flow" air filters simply do not filter as effectively as the quality factory (Mann) paper air filters, and not doing a "cold air" intake was an easy no-brainer for me. Nonetheless, CAI's remain a popular mod because of the successful marketing hype for them over the years. And they do sound good on a turbo.

I agree that it is probably pulling in hotter air but the faster rate of volume has to count for something right? I put one on my V8 Range Rover and it sounds so much better. It was way too quiet with the stock air intake.
