smoking cayenne S 955 Headlights
Hey guys Im new to this thread, I wanted to know if anyone has smoked their headlights on their Porsche Cayenne 955. I Want to smoke mine and after inquiring at several places and even having one guy attempt and fail at dismantling the headlight to paint the inside housing black, I want to see if anyone has taken the much safer approach and used headlight tint to get a smoked look. If anyone has done it or seen it on the thread could you please join in and show pics if they are available! P.S love this website! And I LOVE my porsche! Ill be posting pics when all my mods are finished!!

I think your headlights are way to young to smoke.
Actually I know I have seen a thread here or somewhere else about taking them apart and painting them. It's something I've thought about doing too because I'd like to totally black mine out.
I'll see if I can dig it up.

@jdubbya Hahaha so funny! But yeah Ive seen that one too! No one is willing to do it around my area, they are afraid of the risk in possibly breaking and having to replace the headlight unit! It looks so awesome and I really want it done but with the risk involved and the cost of the unit I can understand why no one is jumping at the job. I can't think of any other option than the headlight smoked tint film that can be applied overtop of the unit with a squeegi and a heat gun to give it that blacked out look/effect. Have you seen any photos of anyone who has done that to their cayenne?

No I haven't seen anyone with a film on the lens.
Here is the thread I was thinking of. Should have known it was Kent that did it. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-mod-pics.html
I'd also be wary of covering the lens with anything. Not sure about how the law looks at that?

YEAH!! I spoke to a car place here and they said they wouldn't recommend that I have the smoked tint put on the headlights. they said its illegal. But I figured being that its a porsche I wouldn't catch any flack for it lol. But yeah That guy did an AWESOME job. I wish I were near him in location and at the very least he could assist me with the job. Then I would be confident enough to try it myself!

Yeah that would be awesome! Please do! My mate above you gave an awesome write up on the painting of the inside headlight housing. No one around me is willing to do it though. Is there an easier legal way to get the look that I'm going for?

Here you are, I want to do it to mine but Im scared to ruin the headlamp.
edit: Actually I see Kent linked the same thread I did in his post. Reading his post really has me wanting to do mine. Im out of work for 2 weeks for surgery recovery starting Monday so maybe this will be something to keep me from going stir-crazy in my house

I'm going to try the 6% pre cut lamin-x film. Its light enough to be legal but dark enough that it gives a nice look. Its pretty easy to apply and its only 50 bucks, cant hurt to try.

The tail lights were clear when I bought them. They are from Spyder and are LED.
I got tired of the chrome so I taped off the reverse light and tinted the rest with VHT nightshade. Here's what they look like when the lights are off, its dark out so the photo isn't the greatest.
