Fuel door won't open! Help!

Has anyone had the problem of not being able to open the fuel door on a 957 Cayenne? I unlocked the doors and pressed in on the corner of the fuel door and it is not opening up? I pulled the interior panel off looking for an emergency pull and found a orange wire but it is not doing anything.

I am thinking of pulling the wheel and fender liner next but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and what the fix was? I read some older posts but it all pertains to the 955 model.

**UPDATE** figured it out. The actuator is sticking. For future reference it is located behind the CD changer and held in with 2 screws. There is an emergency release rubber pull behind there as well.

Glad you got it. Mine seems to be sort of sticking open. It takes a few times to get it to shut sometimes. I haven't really looked at it but am wondering if it needs a little shot of lubricant?

On a side note I looked for the emergency pull while in there doing something else one day and didn't see it. I'll have to look again just in case.

I put a dab of grease on the rod, I figured why not.

Glad this happened close by the house! Would have sucked to have happened on a road trip! I'm not even sure you can get to the emergency pull if the cd changer was in place. I think everyone should check for the release to be familiar with its location.

I am also going to add a few bits to the tool kit! A torx bit set is a good idea to have on hand.

Here is a pic of the pull (I put blue tape on it).

I'm going to go look for it and lube it up a bit. Filled up tonight and it worked fine open and close. That little box to the right doesn't look like a Bose part.

Mine does this. No issue opening, but has issues closing. Only when its cold out too. No issue with it in the springs or summers. Temperamental thing haha

Yeah now that you mention it mine was probably when it was colder.

By the way...I'm going to be over in Bellevue tomorrow and maybe get in a few dyno runs at Carb Connection in Kirkland afterwards if they get it set up. If you aren't busy swing by.

Well I am done poking around looking at things. I found the emergency strap and gave it a yank and the whole friggin latch came with it. I've spent the evening tearing apart the cargo bay and trying to fix it. Not sure if I did it or it was already like this but the tube that the latch bar slides in was broken. Tried gluing it back together but that didn't work. And of course the tube only comes with a whole new actuator. Ordering more parts now and the door will just have to flap around until they get here I guess.

As for the door not closing it's pretty obvious now after seeing the whole thing in my hand in pieces that it was probably hanging up in the cold. It's almost like a little piston inside the tube and it probably could have used a little lube.

Always something.

I just saw this, haven't been on the board since I made that post... How did that go? Ive thought to go by there and dyno mine in the past, but it was just a thought that I never acted on.

Went to Porsche Bellevue for a 918 tech session. Pretty interesting car and an amazing service shop. Of course it's brand new, but super clean and nice. The shop and the car of course!

The dyno session never got set up. I'm going to try setting something up for this Saturday. As long as at least 5 cars go it's only $75 for three pulls. Great deal. Good guys there too. The Ferrari club used to do an annual dyno day there.

As for the fuel door, yeah it's not too bad, just getting to it is a pain. New parts should be on the way.

You will have to let me know next time you go to the dyno. Would like to get the cayenne on one to see some numbers from the mods.

I have to call tomorrow but as long as they have it open I'm going to try getting a group this Saturday around noon. It just takes 5 cars. I'll post back here tomorrow when I get it set up. Someone in this group was gonna set it up last weekend but didn't follow through....https://www.facebook.com/groups/109842499197393/

Gonna have some roll and drag races coming up in May at Spokane Raceway too. I'm going to try to make it. I was at the Bremerton event last year, it was fun.
