I am a long time enthusiast owning many different marquee.. Porsche Benz, Volvo,BMW m series,jaguar,,range rover,many american boats,,and race bikes.... Have work on everything I have ever owned....

So..... Just bought my wife an 08 cayenne s with 94k on the clock. Got what I thought was a steal on the ride... One owner, dealer serviced, ppi, etc... Did all the diligence I thought was required.
Test drove it and noticed nothing out of the ordinary.. Maybe a light ticking at idle. I assumed it was fuel injector firing... Many other cars I have owned made this noise..

Well now I am suspect... It seems louder at startup and I am beginning to think it is the dreaded cylinder scoring... May be I am just paranoid but I assume the worst.

I am going to scope the bores this weekend and confirm or eliminate this..

If they are scored I would like to buy a bad block or motor and get the machine done ahead of time before it fails and still let her drive it. This way her downtime will be minimal. I am trying to keep the build at $7k ish.. This will still leave me under book for the car.

Using us chrome for the work.. Going to coat the pistons...

My question is where can I find pistons/wristpins...
Finding any aftermarket for these is proving very difficult.... Also need source on exhaust valve guides
