Query: Conklin Fuel Mate Plus

Has anyone tried Conklin Fuel Mate Plus?

I think it destroyed three of my ignition coils last fall and it was taking out my catalytic converters this spring.

When I stopped using it my engine light stopped coming on with the codes for catalytic insufficiency. And I noticed a bump UP in power.

Conklin claims it is safe for catalytic converters and Conklin claims it works by "lengthening the burn times" but I am concluding that Fuel Mate Plus screws with turbo engine timings and is detrimental.

Please advise.

Thank you

Gearhead Needed. Expertise Needed.

I am hoping someone here can explain the timing or whatever is going on that results in slightly less power and the three bad ignition coils; moreover, the RISK TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER that is so costly.

I don't this additive is worth it and I would like to hear other's opinions.

Any additives worth it?

Never heard of it but it sounds, at least on the face of it, that you have a pretty good idea that it's snake oil at best and isn't doing your motor any good. I never say never but in my experience there are very few additives that actually do much.

Fuel injector cleaner is one of the few exceptions I've ever heard of that actually does what it claims. In fact I've been meaning to run some through mine. Looking through several injector cleaner reviews and reviews on Amazon of different products it looks like the best is Liqui-Moly Jectron. Just bought a few bottles.
