Cayenne WInter Driving Course

My dealer organized a "Cayenne Winter Driving Course" on Friday. Just wanted to post a few pictures and a few remarks. Firstly, the Pirelli Ice and Snow tires outperformed by far the Dunlop Grand Treks. A V6 Cayenne with the 17's and Ice and Snows was the winner of the day as far as snow capabilities. The 19'sa with Ice and Snows did pretty poorly in my opinion. Also, the only CT there seemed to have too much power on snow compared to CS and C.
I have to give a thumbs up to my dealer for organizing such an event. Throughout the day we learned how to control oversteer and understeer situations, maximize braking power with our trucks, but mostly, try and get rid of bad habits that would ultimately lead to a crash. This is the second year that I attend this course and I must say it saved me from having at least one accident 3 weeks after attending the course last year.

Oproulx,
Did anyone use a 20" all-season tires? If yes, what brand and how did it perform? I recently purchased a set of 275/40-20
Hankook Ventus ST RH06 and it performed well in light snow up in lake tahoe.

Nobody had the 20"s but I remember a good story from last year. The Sales Manager of the Porsche dealer was driving a CS with 18" all seasons and he ended up flying into a snowbank while doing one of the exercices we were asked to do. Also when braking on snow and ice, he was extremely disadvantaged. The tires had about 1000 miles on them so they were new...

I was never a believer in winter tires until that day, there is no substitute for a good set of winter tires.

But as I said in my previous post, even 19 vs. 18, even with snow tires, a big difference could be seen.

Hope this helps!
