22's Kahn Wheels Review and Pics

New to the forum here (even though I have been reading posts for about two months before I was finally able to post and respond to threads!) Great posts from people. Seems like this is the place for those who want to mod their rides.

Lots of discussion about different wheel options for the Cayenne so I thought I would share my experience so far with a set of 22's

For pics click on the link. Music on bottom of page for your enjoyment.

Stats: 22" x 10" Monobloc Wheel 45lbs

Appearance: Sweet! But I will let you be the judge. Some might not like the looks, some might be neutral, but I definitely LOVE them. Very similar to the Techarts but they have a subtle accent on each spoke that the Techarts don't.

Ride: Slightly stiff on "Sport" and "Normal" settings. Needed to switch to "Comfort" setting. Riding on 18's I normally rode on "Sport" setting, so the ride does not feel different from this to 22's on "Comfort."

Vibration: Only some slight vibration between 60 and 64mph, very tolerable though and this doesn't occur at any other speed, slower or faster. Had the car driving on streets, highway, and dirt roads. About 850 miles so far.

Finish: Superb. Color of rims matches all external trim. Finish gloss seems to repel brake dust well and has been very easy to clean.

Value: Fantastic Value at $3,399.00 withcenter caps and shipping for this style and set. GMP normally sells RS-C Monoblocs for $1,299 each plus tires. So $6,356 - $3,399 Saved $2,957. Cheapest Price for 20" Sport Technos with center caps is $4457 shipped & balanced. I think there is still one set (Kahn's) left for this price at GMP.

Con's: Not OEM Diameter Tire (285/35-22 is 29.9" tall). OE Porsche Tire 275/40-20 is 28.7" diameter. 82lbs with BFG Tires vs. 65lbs for 20" Sport Technos with tires. Consequences? Increased wear and tear, possible vibration issues that may increase and affect driving at other speeds? We will have to wait and see.
They do require more care with regard to parallel parking and may be prone to street rash. If they had a lip and the spokes were recessed a bit too this would improve their ability to resist marring and scratching.

West side - St. Charles,
Have a place in the city off of LSD though for weekends, because suburbia kills me.

Not quite sure where I have the option to upload an avatar.
Do I need to wait a bit until I am able to "have" one?

Thanks

i have the kahns in 20's as the roads here in montreal are crazy, and i lowered it with springs, i would do the coilovers if i did it again, if you go to the projectkahn.com website you will find these wheels with the 5 star center cap which looks hot on the car...much hotter than the flat ones, you just need to use a belt sander to take a little off the edges to get them in far enough to clock into place....but worth it...i get stopped all the time...good luck. I was told that the Porsche OEM Star center caps would fit, but I did not want to do any grinding on them because i use them for my 18" wheels on my winter tire setup. But I guess I could just order an additional set.

Looked at alot of wheels - 3/4 in person and the rest online until I finally decided on these. The special that GMP was having sealed the deal too.
I will probably baby them a bit, but I hope they withstand the usual road hazards.

Here is some info on those -sizes and price for set in pounds.

The RSX is a cross spoke design available in 20†and 21â€. All Kahn Wheels are designed in the UK and use the highest quality Italian manufacture. This contemporary interpretation of the traditional wire wheel is ideally suited to all luxury coupes, saloons and sporty 4x4s. Available in sizes 9x20â€, 11x20†and 10.5x21†the RSX is competitively priced from £3000 for wheels fitted with tyres. - $5512 for set in U.S. dollars retail. GMP performance doesn't carry them , but I am sure they coould order them for you http://www.gmpperformance.com/index.cfm?PG=contact
