Can anyone tell me which ecu gives the best low end power for the city? I'm looking to get rid of the lag that is present. I've read on renntech that dms with air filters and bypass pipes will net 540hp whereas giac gives around 510?

Anyone have real world experience on this? I need to do somthing soon.

 

Our program for the Cayenne TT will [u]dramatically[/] reduce throttle hesitation. In the non-turbo models, it's even adjustable. Timing can be adjusted to give you a little more low end acceleration as well. Estimated numbers are 515HP and 530 lb/ft of torque. There are many to choose from.Do some research and go with the tuner that you are comfortable with.

I've owner two CTT's...an '05 and an '06. Did the GIAC ecu upgrade on both and the BMC air filters and Fabspeed secondary cat bypass pipes on the '05.

You'll never get rid of the lag totally because it's a combination of poor communication between the engine and transmission (however they do that) and turbo lag. I was so frustrated that I went to drive the ML63 and couldn't believe it! No lag and a very responsive transmission. Got rid of the CTT on the spot...at a large loss to boot. The CTT interior IMO is a little nicer/sportier than the ML63 but let me tell ya when u step on the gas it goes RIGHT NOW! Nothing makes me happier!

ML63 is incredibly powerful and responsive.
i decided to buy an 08 Cayenne anyway

 

Enjoy it! And please give a report after you've taken delivery of the '08 Cayenne. Engine should be more responsive with the direct injection. I'll be lookin' at the '09/'10 CTT or whenever the next "version" comes out.

GIAC is the only way to go, i have flashed alot of CTT and have had great success, with this program you do still have turbo lag, but its a turbo charged car, you can never completely get rid of turbo lag with out major mods, GIAC all the way

 

I hear what you are saying, I am just curious as to what the 'reasons' are behind not using upsolute or dms (or any of the others)? Upsolute makes more power than GIAC, correct?

 

this is correct, they do make more power, but they do it by upping the boost, which can burn out your turbos prematurely, this can get costly.

 

As a side note regarding my using the GIAC updates I found that when I used 100 LL the vehicle ran much better i.e. smoother and felt stronger too. Still had the trans./turbo lag but slightly better.

I don't know anyone in chicago that sells the higher octane fuel? All we have is the 93 octane..
So how do you run the 100LL?? Where do you get the fuel?

 

I'm in Las Vegas, NV and a gas station called "Rebel" sells the 100LL here for about $5 per gallon. When I had the CTT's (I now own and love the ML63) I would mix the 100LL on a 1 to 3 ratio. i.e.: 15 gallons total with 5 of that 100LL.

POI: The ML63 showed no noticeable difference when I tried the 100LL.
