I always just manually downshift prior to taking off...it makes me feel like I'm doing something...

I think, for ****s and giggles that I am going to run my CTT in the 1/4 miles at the Supra Nats next week. Any advice beyond just point and floor her?

I suppose starting in second is ok...should I break boost?

I am entering the GT2 in the 60-130 and tracking her, but I won't subject her to the abuse (wheel spin/hop, clutch fry) of the 1/4.

I would figure you would want to start in 1st for a quarter mile run, although I'm not sure what it will do with PSM off. Certainly with PSM on, just drop it to first and floor it...it should redline from 1st to 2nd (with obviously no wheelhop). Without PSM...well, I haven't done that yet...I'm not that brave...

I have tested her acceleration w/ PSM on and I get no shut down since there is not enough power to spin the tires. If I break boost I might lose traction so I suppose I will have to experiment.

Somewhat off-topic question here, but I noticed in your sig you have a 2004.5 CTT listed...how does one distinguish between a 2004 and 2004.5 CTT?

With PSM off my 2006 starts in 1st, and doesn't go to 6th even on the hwy (unless I upshift), I am unsure if this was or wasn't a feature in 2004.

As already mentioned above - just manually downshift to 1st from a stop, no need to shut PSM off. But also as noted above this way works too, I just like keeping PSM on, but PMS off with shorty!

I take it you are usually an automatic transmission guy, whereas I always buy a manual.

The 2004.5 has the alcantara (suede) headliner.

My research found that CTT's built after late 2003 (say November on) had less problems than those built earlier in the year.
