New CTT v ML63 v Elise S
Interest article in May EVO. Surprisingly, CTT beats both around EVO's circuit and 0-100-0 though ML63 generally had better acceleration figures. I thought the Elise S would school them around the track but no. Actual dynos vs. manufacturers claim showed some significant variances favoring the CTT. Amazing performance for such heavy SUV's. Sorry, don't have the article to scan but readily available at Borders and B&N.

I would take the ML63 since it's a more bad-*** looking car
Sorry, couldn't disagree more. You can hang all the angular protrusions, bulges and creases you want on it, but the ML63 still looks like a minivan. Those bumperettes in the front and back are straight from the new Jeep.
The new CTT looks much more purpose-built.

Yes, I still have the Turbo S and it continues to amaze me. Just hit 12k miles. BTW, Cayenne Turbo's time around EVO's course was also faster than the latest M5. It's a thirsty brute though.

I never really took the ML too seriously when the W164 new body style came out. I had a 2005 Cayenne S that I enjoyed for 2 years & sold few months back as I had a 2008 CS on order.
When my 2008 CS arrived, something was holding me back from taking the delivery. Where I live there are no discounts so I would've paid sticker of about $80,000 for the nicely loaded CS. But it just seemed like a lot of money to pay for the "same" vehicle that I've used for 2 years. Incidentally, I came across a 2006 ML500 fully loaded with AMG body kit & wheels and picked it up (I'm an impulsive buyer). The pricing wasn't bad either. We've only had it for a couple of days.
Initial thoughts: more front & rear room than CS, lots of torque, the difference between the Comfort/Sports setting for the Airmatic is more meaningful than in CS (i could never feel much difference in the CS). Feels more comfortable for daily driving. I would never buy a brand new ML over a brand new CS, but the slightly used ML500, the $ savings and the experience of trying something new has been exciting.
By the way, I do have my Cayman S as I would never consider leaving the Porsche family completely.
No idea what the 0 to 60 is on the ML500 but it feels good!

I was very close to pulling trigger on Ctt, but drove a ML63 AMG yesterday. I have to admit its beautiful inside and out and had fantastic performance. Its definitely going to be our new "family" car I guess i'm more of a "german" guy
