Porsche Cayenne GTS

Porsche Cayenne GTS
I guess it has been confirmed by a reputable source in the "other" forum (Rennteam) that the Porsche Cayenne GTS (rear wheel drive version to be placed in between the Cayenne S and Turbo) will be launched sometime late 2007. Should be interesting if actually true...

If you want a track car get a GT3 (or if you have USD 400K lying around then a Caparo T1)

The Cayenne GTS will be more of a hmmmm....
how about an Audi S4 Avant on steroids, grown about 20% with a RS8 engine?? That kind of paints the picture. Porsche will lighten it up, and with PASM and PDCC it'll give a 997 nightmares at the Ring.
Think Xtreme Sports Wagon

^^exaxtly..think of it as a RWD wagon - not a SUV.
hope a 6spd makes its way into one of these, and the price isn't out of control.

Let's get the 6 speed in there, about 420 hp of motivation... a nice noisy sports exhaust, base Turbo brakes, 10's in the front, 12's in the rear...
I think base will be about 65K, add a moonroof, PASM, PDCC, PCM, and you're all set about 75-80k.
Also expect no transfer case (duh!) to lose some weight and an innovative front suspension. No skid plates, etc... maybe get the weight down to about 4500 lbs.
Then in 2 years look for the Cayenne GTR with a 550 hp TT engine

I think it will be an ideal Cayenne for people in Florida, California and the likes. How big % of the Cayennes in these states do you think really need AWD? My guess is that 85-90% only sees tarmac under their wheels.

I'm excited about it... would probably have great specs. Maybe 5.7s, 0-60mph I'd expect a 997TT vs 997GT3 sorta comparison. The TT will certainly have more power but the GTS will be a beast. And with a 6 speed it could be nasty...

The GTS would be lighter but more important it'll be RWD and possibly 6 Speed. A drag race style launch benefits the RWD manual every time especially when you factor in the Turbo lag (the little there is). GTS probably 1st to 30mph and maybe to 60 mph... TT catches it shortly thereafter. For 500 hp the CTT is not a good "drag car" thus showing why the Jeep SRT8 with 425 hp beats it every time.
But CTT is 4.9 sec... so it should still be safe.
CS is 6.4 sec stock @ 385hp. The manual trans and RWD alone will bring it down to under 6.0 sec... the extra 40 hp and (-500lbs) will shave another couple to few tenths.

Isn't the Audi a 4 wheel drive vehicle? Don't see the point of the two wheel Cayenne with the Panamerica scheduled to be released. Not saying the market wouldn't accept but Porsche carefully guards their brands.
