Angry Unlucky day... scratched wheel...

It finally happened... today I scratched the front passenger's side wheel. I have 20" Gemballa racing wheels (black w/ polished lip) and was wondering if this scratch is fixable and if so how much would it cost me.

Also, to anyone living in SoCal (I live in Monterey Park, LA County)... if you know someone that has fixed your wheel flawlessly and would like to recommend him to me, please do so. Thank you...

I'm not sure if to be upset at myself for the stupid mistake or to cry...

I'm in San Diego.

I'd try Velvet Touch....

They are mobile, do good work and charge about a buck and a quarter per wheel.

Good luck man!

Also in SD, and can vouch for Velvet Touch. Rashed some BBS CH's and they did a great job!

I just got my driver's side front wheel back from Wheel Enhancement in Culver City. I noticed 2 big gouges when I washed the car, but not sure if I did it or it happened when my Boxster was in for dealer service a few weeks earlier. I tried the DIY curb rash repair and wasn't satisfied. They are in Culver City and only do Porsche wheels. They chemically strip and completely refinish to factory spec. Quality was flawless. $225 plus mounting/balancing plus tax for an 18" OEM rim. They also gave me a matching loaner wheel while mine was being fixed. Try calling them

You could also try calling Gemballa directly, since they are in Malibu, and see who they recommend

Custom Wheel Refinishing is in North Hollywood and some people have said good things about them.

I just got a Cayenne and it's so much bigger than the Boxster and Carrera it seems like only a matter of time until one of the wheels scrapes a curb

That's just a flesh wound ... easy to fix ... you have so many choices. Repair it yourself or pay someone (~$200.00 or less).

By the way, what's with all the brake dust? Those wheels aren't cheap by no means. Having substantial brake dust on your polished lip as well as the black paint does not reflect well on you. If you are content with having that much brake dust (which can be VERY destructive to the finishes on the wheel), why even fix the curb rash? Why waste your money.

Are you in San Diego or Encinitas? Which one? There's a vicious rumor that Encinitas is NOT part of San Diego ... just a rumor.

How do the mobile repair guys fix the wheels? Don't you have to take the wheel off the car and the tires off the wheel? I guess they have that equipment in their van??
