New Cayenne V6 or used Cayenne S
My gf is thinking about getting one and was wondering what's a better choice. Any suggestion or thoughts is welcome. thanks!
Also, how much off msrp is there for a 2008 v6 that is mildly option? anyone purchased one recently? thanks!

My wife had a V6 cayenne for about 3 years. She really liked it and never felt power was a issue. I had been trying to convince her to let me trade it in for a few months and she always said she was "fine" and didn't really need anything with more HP or that guzzled more fuel.
However... a few months ago I got her a Cayenne Turbo and she just fell in love with the car. She isn't a speed demon at all but she did comment on how much more responsive the throttle was. I think your GF will be fine with the V6 as long as she doesn't have a lead foot or likes speed. The V6 is a very capable car in it's own right and for most people that is all the power they will ever need.
Good luck in your search!

go for used Pepper S
ii had a loaner 2006 v6 for a week and found it to be significantly underpowered. there are my observations comparing to the v6 to the v8:
- no power or torque for passing or accelerating especially on hills and highways
- it's much noisier as you have a step on it to get any go
- fuel economy is worse than a v8 due to always having to floor it
the 2008 v6 is better but still suffers from the same drawbacks.

I'm in a 2006 V6 loaner (3500 miles on it) and oh my god this thing is slowwwwww! Now I know it's no CTT which is what I have but I have trouble keeping up with regular traffic in Chicago w/this thing. I think it's the slowest car I've driven in years, even compared to a Honda Accord which i had as a loaner. You have to wring this thing out constantly to get her moving and it shifts way too early for the amount of power available. I say a V8 is a must due to the weight of the Cayenne. BTW, the sticker on this thing which is very basic is $52K. No air suspension, no Nav, no leather, no disc changer, no park assist, no touch entry/exit. This is what the sticker was on my totally loaded (and I mean everything, more options than even my CTT) Touareg with a way way nicer interior. Since the two are 75% or more the same (sorry guys but true) anyone looking at a V6 Cayenne ought to be looking at a V8 Touareg. Just my 2 cents. I've owned both, 2 Touaregs and now a CTT.

I test drove a new 06 V8 STit and an 08 V6 back to back, the V8 is quicker and was a much better deal but there was not much difference in power. If I was pulling a boat or trailer I would get the V8. If not the 08 V6 does fine in any traffic situation. I get 22 mpg back and forth to work which is part highway and city driving. If I wanted something fast I certainly wouldn't pick a 2.5 ton truck regardless of the engine. Also new vs used, I think new wins every time. I got 12% off the window sticker.

Do you guys think 47k is reasonable for a brand new leftover 06 or maybe try to get them down in the low to mid 40s?

Not the most desire colour or options for us but we are trying to evaluate and see if that's a good deal considering all the goodies in the 08 model.

What color and options does it have? I can tell you that $47K is a great price for a new '06.
