Possible Trans. Issue! Please Help

I need your help guys. Today on my drive home, my CS when accelerating from 0 -40 mph the car sounds like something is thumping on the bottom of the car. It makes the car jerk/vibrate as well. It also happened when i as going at70 mph and on.

I pulled over at a toll booth to check the exterior and found nothing wrong.

1. It doesn't seem like an alignment issue because the steering wheel is steady and doesnt jerk.

2. The pedal seems fine while accelerating, and the trans. seams smooth.

Do you think its a trans. issue? has anyone else have this happen to them??? PLEASE HELP

If your Cayenne is shaking when accelerating at low rpm's it is most likely cracked coils.

It also happens around 60 70 mph, while accelerating.

Doesn't matter the mph it usually is noticable at low RPM's

Its the ignition coils. Most Porsche dealerships will know what you are talking if you mention 'coils'. Its a known problem. I've had mine replaced. I'm sure there are a bunch of folks on the board that have had theirs replaced also.

Do a search on coils and you will find many with a problem of studdering or shaking while accelerating.

i had a similar issue and it ended up being the drive shaft coupling was coming apart. worked fine when we pulled in to the garage and when i took it back out an hour later it was shaking like crazy, but strangely did not do it every time. The drive shaft is a common problem on early ones.

I took it to the dealer and they said it was the ignition coils but that they also found that the cardan shaftwas broken and that was causing noise. What is a cardan shaft? is this serious?

Have the replacement coils been covered under warranty?
