What's the thing about Bose speakers requiring re-wiring? I thought all Cayennes came with Bose speakers.

Is the back-up cam included with the Pioneer unit? Do you expect to lose your steering wheel controls with this unit? Also, would the Pioneer unit play DVD on the screen?

Looking forward to your feedback on the installation process as well as how the system works.

I ordered my 08 S without NAV and without the bose (without bose because I've heard of the re-wiring headaches).. The non-bose speakers sound GREAT.. but the stock deck sucks.. The back-up cam is a module you buy in addition to the pioneer unit.. and I ordered the steering wheel control kit as well.

I just received this double DIN kit from japan.. The finish is exactly the same color as the stock factory dash - looks great. They also include some adapter brackets so you don't have to fab your own, as well as a harness for the factory side of the stereo.. there are a couple other wire harnesses included which I don't know about (perhaps for the Bose system).. unfortunately all of the documentation that came with this kit is in Japanese.

Overall, i'm happy.. and feel a little less pain from dropping $330 for this kit

Not all Cayenne came with bose If you have bose amp - right cover in trunk, upper CD Changer - you should completly rebuilt system, with new amps and new xovers for speakers, or new speakers.

Steering control will not work with aftemarket unit. Only using special electronic hardwired in the car.

Regards

You do not need case of drink, just one-two cans. It easy with dash kit!

Enjoy

1 of PAC SWIPS Unv Steering Whl Contr
1 of PAC SWI-CAN Can-Bus Module for SWI-X/SWI-PS/SWI-ALP/SWI-ECL
Apparently those two parts will do the trick (can be ordered through Amazon).. Note that you MUST obtain the latest revision of both (latest revision supports the Cayenne).. about $100 total.

the only part im worried about is some of the extra wires that came with the dash kit - the instructions are 100% japanese.. i'm going to have a japanese friend translate.. if all goes well i'll post up the translated instructions

Ok, so after about 12 solid hours, the project is complete.. Avic-D3 with the XM w/ traffic nav, sirius, bluetooth, rear view cam modules. I put all of the modules behind the passenger dash (plenty of room back there), then put the sat antennas (for the nav, the xm and the sirius) under the rear trunk spoiler (i took it off, only about 8 bolts and put the antennas in there.. since its just plastic, the signal gets through OK). I put the rear view camera just above the rear lic plate.

That $350 kit from Japan turned out to be well worth it.. the brackets fit just right, the wire harness is great because now I can put it all back to stock within a matter of minutes.. and the trim piece looks like a factory finish piece.

one more thing - regarding the steering wheel control kit - forget about the PAC (SWICAN and SWI-PS) parts.. they will only provide volume control.. go with the Soundgate CANPULSE4.. Yes, its $350 versus $100 or so, but you get volume/track/source/etc functionality (and it provides your VSS wire for your nav)
