I love your build. Did you go with the compass Display for the looks ? I may go with it too. I like the look although many in the 997 section refer to the sports chrono timer as a "wart" in the dash and this compass looks somewhat similar in appearance.

Thanks for the comment on the build. I was after the look of the truck that is featured in the 30 second Porsche commercial which we all likely saw this summer. I first watched it on some in flight advertising on a business trip I was on - same exterior options and colour. The compass I thought just looked cool - I have the "wart" on my TT cab and it looks pretty good as well...however in the Cayenne, it comes off much more in keeping with the technical look of the Cayenne dash. I think it is a must have option for the money (+- $ 500.00 I think). The hardest decision has been this suspension set up given its cost vs. use of this particular vehicle and my goal of a luxury ride. In the end I might have built it a little too 'stiff' but I am just coming out of a full size Range Rover SC which was a gorgeous machine - yet a little too soft - beautiful...but soft

FYI, in Car and Driver's first take on the new cayenne s that was fitted w/ PTV plus compared to one that was not: the difference is quite noticeable and the cayanne fitted w/ the system turned in as if it had shed 1000 lbs.

Thank you for mentioning that. I keep seeing threads from several here ordering a 85K plus vehicle and constantly wondering if it is worth spending 3.5K for PDCC or 1.5 K for PTV. I say spend the money for a larger wheel with performance tires, (not just a 18 inch wheel) ditch the all season tires, get PASM, PDCC and PTV. With those options it will change how you drive SUV's....and that does NOT mean that you can and should drive in a reckless fashion. You don't have to drive like a madman to derive the benefit of these performance upgrades.

Guys I have a question on everyone doing a special order. I plan on getting the Cayenne S soon but no dealer has it configured the way I want it.

When you make a special order for the cayenne, is there a markup or can you get a better deal?

This will be my first Porsche and I'm not use to special ordering a car.

Thanks.

I can tell you that I ordered a S two weeks ago and I was able to get about the same discount as if I took one off the lot. I did feel if I pushed I could get maybe 1 or 2 percent more but that is it. That was pretty much the same story from several different dealers.

4 to 6 % off for custom build seems very reasonable. Don't know if that will become close to 8 to 10 % off in the future. I doubt it but anything is possible these days. Dealers want your business.
