Thought I would update this thread. 750 miles on the ODO, oil level still holding at the highest bar. Weird how it can change from vehicle to vehicle. What do you guys think is going on ?

What sort of break-in schedule are you following? as per the manual? like you stole it? or somewhere in between?

Mine should report out of production today ....... finally

My 2011 S has also been going thru alot of oil. The dealer is is now doing an oil consumption test whereby they are documenting the amounts for their records.

As soon as I put on 600 miles and they measure, I will find out the results.

I'm at about 900 miles and the oil level is at the highest point. I have been breaking her in gently though. Eagerly waiting for the 1,500 mile mark.

Thanks for all of the input everyone. I have a CTT on order to be my daily driver. I drive about 4000 miles a month. I called the technician who works on my 997 and he stated that 1 litre of oil per 600mi is normal. It should drop off slightly as the engine parts seat. He said to expect it to be around 800-1000 miles from then on, but they have seen CTTs stay at the 600mi mark.
Thats about $50 extra a month but the hassle will be the need to buy cases of oil at a time....
I wish they had designed an extra storage compartment for the extra quarts of oil I will need. I guess I can always use the roof rack!

I think I may get some Mobil stock....

Not sure I trust the electronic dipstick; my level has seemingly gone from 1/4 qt down to a full qt down in a matter of a few miles. Overall, though, the consumption is slowing. Have added 4 qts in just over 5,000 miles as follows:
1,429
2,665
2,695
4,705
So I went over 2,000 mi. before adding the last quart. As to needing another quart 30 miles after adding one at 2,665, I think that's where the e dipstick got "stuck", but at any rate it's been well behaved since.

check 6,

Are most of your miles from longer trips, so far? Or, combination of local and some highway.

We'll probably never know, but wonder is oil consumption is break in with infrequent longer distant highway miles?

Lots of luck and fun with your new ride.

Thanks.

1200 miles on mine. Oil level has not budged from max level. I hope my oil level indicator is not malfunctioning.

The oil level on the computer can go from max to low within a short time. I have used about 1.5 liter per month or around 1200 miles. I drove mostly local and the dealer see it as normal.

AC, that is so unlike the DFI engine. I worry if our indicators are malfunctioning... May be I am paranoid. BTW my friend I demand pictures of your baby ;-)

Did you break in your Cayenne as suggested by the manual? Is your driving mainly highway?

It seems to be right in line with my situation. Porsche service says this is within their numbers. Hopefully, it gets better the more miles you drive.
