Serious Problem with 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid
#16
Porsche Indonesia decided to take back my hybrid and they offer me to replace it with an S. They also mentioned that they put all hybrid order on "hold" until further notice. They confirmed to me verbally that the S will be on Jan'11 production. I'm still waiting for the email confirmation from them.
w00PORSCHE, once again thank you. The Porsche AsPac details did help and raised the international attention.

Porsche Indonesia decided to take back the hybrid. They (include Porsche Indonesia, Porsche AsPac Singapore and Porsche Germany Leipzig) cannot find the solution to the heating problem and they told me that all hybrid orders in Asia Pacific are put on hold. I was a little worried since I did not hear back from you for several days. DavyK...we are all so happy for you. Best outcome that one could have hoped for. You just could not wait, hence got the hybrid. It is destiny, you wanted a S and thats what you will get into. Your tolerance, persistence and patience paid off. Wonder if it was just a faulty unit. Anyway good to hear that your local Porsche dealer stepped up to the plate and did what they had to.
I really doubt very many Porsche enthusiasts here in this forum would opt for a hybrid (although I can see them getting it for their wives). Hence we really will not know if this heating problem is a going to be a real issue. That battery cooling mechanism was one of the reasons why I was hesitant to go the hybrid way (in addition to many other reasons). Do you have the diesel version in Indonesia ?
I know the wait is hard but you have enough reasons to smile. Don't forget to post some pics when you get your vehicle and share your driving impressions.

Speaking from my own experience, it would be very wise to stay away from the hybrid. The fact that they decided to take back the unit and hold any new order for hybrid show that they have not find any solution yet and it might take a long time. I don't think this can be a quick and easy solution considering that Porsche Indonesia+Porsche Asia Pacific+Porsche HQ in Leipzig were involved fruitless. Everybody in the forum suggest that we stick with the traditional Porsche. I learned that hard way........and still car-less till today. I will update you when I receive the email confirmation that my S will be on production in Jan'11.

Hi w00tPorsche,
Yes, they carry the full range here. I didn't consider the diesel since it is still difficult to find gas pump station who sell good diesel fuel quality in Indonesia.

Davy, awesome build. Good luck keeping that cream clean. I love RS spyder wheels. Add roof rails if it matters since U cannot do it at a later date. Another option to strongly consider would be the noise/thermal isul glass especially where you live. Why running boards ? Is it for looks or function. Overall very well done and you deserve this nice treat for going through hell with the hybrid.
