Maybe the fact that i'm in New York expedites the process. It's not like I was pressuring the sales rep for a delivery date. He gave me that estimate based on prior orders.
FWIW My dealer is Roslyn Porsche

If your BMW was an X5 or X6, they are built in South Carolina and that is much faster. Also, the X3's are being built there as well, as of this fall, and Z4 production switches to Europe.

I ordered a 2011 Cayenne in August for a November 17th build date. Dealer says it will be at the dealership by Dec. 15th. But I do live in Ottawa/Canada so maybe there is a difference in port delays?

I'm in New Hampshire, fairly close to the port in Rhode Island. My dealer is a Premier Dealer, so I doubt he's getting pushed back. There just seems to be a fair amount of delivery variability, probably multifactorial. Some of my dealer's other customers have had their cars delayed up to 2 months, so I should consider myself lucky.

Sorry to hear that. I'm hoping they use a different port for NYC dealers.
