Listening to audio via Bluetooth (A2DP) in the 2011 Cayenne

For iPhone, I believe you need iOS 4 or later. I don't think iOS 3 had A2DP. With your iOS 4 or greater device, make it discoverable in the bluetooth section under general in settings. Then on your car, do the normal steps to pair a new bluetooth device (you can do this under the bluetooth aux menu in PCM). The part that confused me is, when the car prompts for PIN, you enter the PIN # on the PCM (just create one), and hten you enter it on the iPhone. And that's pretty much it.

What car? 2012 Porsche Cayenne? It should work just fine. FWIW, I'm doing it with an iPhone 4. The phone has to be A2DP-capable, of course.

I was also able to connect the wifes BB but that took a little more work as there was a setting on her BB that needed to be changed.

Ok it worked fine today and took about 2 minutes. We must have done something incorrectly the first time at the dealers. Yeah its a 2012 CS and my phone has one of the latest android softwares.

I have been pleased with the streaming quality of A2DP in the Cayenne. I am a beta developer with iOS 5 (just a hobby) and the nice thing coming in iOS 5 is song, artist and album info now on the PCM with bluetooth streaming. Just a nice little new feature.

Nice. Too bad, I won't be buying another iOS device again.

One interesting thing I have noticed. If I plug my iPhone into the USB port after the Bluetooth connection has been made, I can't here sound from when I play through the "iPod" source but can when in the "Aux Bluetooth." I have to unplug my iphone and then reconnect it to hear music through the "iPod" source.

Hey guys I'm having great difficulty trying to connect my iPhone 4 to play music, it connects fine, and I can make calls, however when I go to cd, there is no option tab. So I can't change settings as said.
Or by the way I got a CDR-31
Thanks in advance

To access the iPhone or other device connected by Bluetooth, you should be able to go to the "Source" button and select "Aux BT" to stream music from your device. If the iPhone is directly connected through the USB port, there will be an "iPod" choice when going through the "sources". I get both an iPod and Aux BT option with my phone when it is connected directly to the USB port and Bluetooth.

And I only get CD and AUX, and no BT. At the top of this tread there shows a way to activate the BT AUX function, but in my case there is no "option" tab on top, to get to the settings...

I just want to chime in and not sure if someone has already mentioned this or not, but I was able to successfully connect two bluetooth devices at the same time. I have an Android phone (HTC EVO 3D) and also my old iPhone 3G. I still like using my old iPhone 3G because it syncs easily with iTunes and has the nice playlist. So, I want to use it as the main mp3 player. But I also wanted to connect my EVO 3D as my phone and use the Cayenne as a speakerphone. It's a bit cumbersome, but after you have added both phone profiles to both phone and music, it can use both simultaneously, which is fantastic. The only thing is, when I start up the car, it always connects to my EVO 3D first and does not connect the iPhone. So, I have to connect the iPhone through the AUX BT menu system. But after that is done, you can make calls and play music without having to turn one or the other off.
After you make a call it will switch back to playing the music from the other bluetooth device. I thought this was quite impressive. Anyways, I thought I'd share.

By the way, for those who have tried connecting an iPod through the USB cable, does it show song information on the screen? I don't see any song information on the screen through bluetooth which is disappointing (unless I don't have it set up right).

Yes, you see song info, can select the playlist, artist, etc. from the PCM. You can also see the current song or list of songs in the dash display as well. Definitely recommend connecting via USB cable- I have to believe the sound is better as well.

Ok nice. I will try that tonight for sure.
