Radar Detector
Does anyone here have any issues with their Adaptive Cruise Control and a radar detector? I've read that there may be issues with using a radar detector on other forums, but I wanted to see if anyone has the same issues here? I wanted to get this one:

I have the Passport 9500 installed system in my CTT for several months (since new.) I've had no issues with the radar/laser detection and the adaptive cruise. Mine are both on all the time.

Yep, had it done at local shop. wasnt cheap (probably about $2K if I remember for the 9500ci unit and installation total). Went that way because I dont have to worry about putting something on the window everytime I drive. Had one of those taken from my car once when I forgot to hide in glovebox. Ended up having to buy a new side window...
Figured too, if the unit is always in the car and turned on, I am getting the benefit of it everywhere I drive. Amazing how many times it goes off around town from cops hiding in bushes, etc. Having a window mounted unit - too easy to not put it up for short drives.

LOL nice. Wife is total opposite. I'm the one with the lead foot, but I've toned down quite a bit as I've gotten older. But, I still don't want to get nailed. Got nailed driving across country through Arizona and those damn photo-radar things because I didn't bring my radar detector thinking I would only go 10 over the speed limit as I normally do now. But a computer doesn't care and clocks you no matter what.

You'll like the Passport (either one) - it has GPS database of all (most) red-light cameras, speed cameras, etc and warn you as you get close to them. VERY handy when travelling around unfamiliar areas.
Just did a 4K mile road trip from Seattle to SanDiego to Vegas and then back over 3 weeks. Very glad had the detector!

But ya, totally agree that there are lots of traps, especially in California and Nevada. Comes in very handy.

If your are going to buy an installed radar detector get he Beltronics STiR+. It is the same hardware minus the laser shifters as the 9500ci but performs better due to greater programability than the 9500ci. You can find the STiR new for less than $1K.

So I did some more research and found the Blendmounts for the Escort detector and will probably go that route. It's much cheaper plus it gives me an option to upgrade later when new models come out. Attaches right to the rear view mirror. Only thing I'm not sure about is if it attaches properly to the Cayenne mirror since the stem looks a bit different. Anyone else use this?
