New iPhone 4s

Stupid question - do I need the NAV head unit for this? I have the CDR-31 and I don't think I see AUX-BT anywhere...

Awesome.. I have been holding out for one and its high time I got the 4s!

yep aux bt function works to show song titles. i was hoping it would be able to do the same for pandora.. no luck.
also as a FYI if you didnt know, you can advance songs with your car function through the aux bt and don't need to do it through the phone. i thought this was pretty sweet. even works with pandora.
on the similar note of others for IOS5 though, thing is so buggy and runs slow as crap. i think apple put out a **** OS without testing it well first.

Well, I have been beta testing iOS 5 since first released. I have found absolutely zero bugs on the final software so far. Perhaps something particular with your device, but overall, mine continues to run smooth and lag free on my iPhone 4 and 4S (AT&T), both of my iPad 2 (GSM and WiFi models) and my wife's iPhone 4S (Verizon).
Might want to back up your device and restore. May make a difference.

Just an FYI that this functionality is also available with a Droid2 (Android) paired with an '11 Cayenne via BT (also Aux/BT). Music directly from the phone as well as internet such as Pandora/Slacker plays through the Cayenne speakers. Artist and track names from the phone show on the screen and can be advanced via the PCM buttons. With Pandora/Slacker the only difference I have seen is the artist/track info is not displayed but the track advance via PCM is available.

Why does anyone want to use blue tooth to play music? BT was designed for voice transmission and lacks the fidelity for music play back, you get much better sound when plugging your device into the USB port.

Who wants to plug their phone into the glovebox all of the time. Then how can you text and drive?

I leave my iPod nano plugged in all the time. I hope nobody is listening BT music on their Burmester system. It will be the equivalent of spending thousands on a surround sound system and using it to only listen music on AM radio.

It becomes a hassle to plug in and unplug on days when I'm in and out a bunch, on long drives or trips I do like to plug it in.
I don't know the exact specs of BT, but I will say that it sounds way better than Satellite radio.

Agreed, plugged in sounds much better than BT music streaming. For convenience I copied the music content on the phone to a USB stick and leave that permanently plugged in to the center console USB port. Use the BT mostly for phone voice and Pandora/Slacker content.

Used the BT streaming before and after iOS5 and it works rather well. We have a Bose system and tunes purchased off of iTunes sound way better than I would have imagined. Just having the option to jump into your phone to listen to music while its still in your pocket is pretty cool.
However, when advancing tracks, there's a bit of lag and it on occasion the title of the first song played is still displayed even though I'm on a different track.

I have a question also - I've only had the car a few weeks, so when I add or remove people fromy my phone address book, do I have to do something in the car like reload the address book to see the changes or will I automatically see them?
Apart from that, the iOS5 download was a bit of a pain. Although I did it on the first day, at the same time as half the world was, so it was slow enough. Restoring all my Apps from the previously taken backup was a large part of the update time also.
And although I'm running an iPhone4, not a 4s, all the BT track identification works on the PCM.

Is every number duped or just some? Is it only where you have more than one phone number stored on your iPhone for that person? ie a Mobile, and a Home number or something like that?
