2011 Cayenne Oil Consumption

Hey Guys,

I tried to post this to the related thread, but there is an error that wont let me post. I got some news today regarding the oil consumption on the 958.

I am now at 11,000 miles and had my first service done about a month and a half ago. I had to go to the dealer today because I got the dreaded low oil warning.

The service manager told me today that he has heard that Porsche is issuing a campaign soon for a software update to lower the pressure going to the engine which will solve this issue. Just wanted to share what I learned today.

I hope they have a fix. I buy Mobil 1 by the case for the two Cayennes.

Nada. My previous one drank it like petrol but this one is perfect. Mostly city and spirited driving for me.

Me too. I have a '13 CTT with 8,000 miles and have added over 2 quarts so far.

I've been adding a quart about every 4-5k miles since the beginning.

I have a 2013 CTT with 25K on the clock. I haven't had to add any oil yet.

Any guess why some of us have the problem and not others?

I'm assuming it might be driving style and what kind of driving you do.

I drive about 90% freeway at a constant speed.

I see cars that do a lot of city driving and cars that drive a lot of variable speeds experiencing oil consumption.

Ahh. OK, well I certainly fit the bill doing a lot of stop and go driving and variable speed driving just trying to get to the highways.

If they did the low pressure fix for 2013, that might explain the above. You may recall I had that oil problem with my first engine for my 2012 Turbo. The second engine oil is still full without having added anything yet but only have about 3K miles on the new engine. The dealer did tell me that the people who drive their cars hard seem to consistently have less oil usage, possibly because they've heated it up more and the rings have worn in better.
