3m Clear Bra

What are your thoughts on the clear bra? I will be picking up my black Cayenne in the next few weeks and I am really debating on getting the clear bra. I live in Chicago and drive mainly in the city, but the winters here can be harsh with the road salt...

I have it, and I love it.

I have alot of scratches in the clear bra already. Rocks etc.

I was actually curious, what are they asking for price to install? As in I probably will want to replace in a year or 2.

I got everything done to the A-Pillars, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I'd suggest doing the same to avoid having visible seams (ie. only going half way up the hood).

Its a must have in Chicago. The roads are HORRIBLE there. Talk to Rick at www.bodyskins.com He is a very good installer and is mobile.

I've had them on all my vehicles for the past 10 years. Be careful when finding a good installer. Make them give you references...and actually check on those references! Good homework will save you LOTS of headaches.

My dealer (Porsche Exchange in Chicago) told me that they do the install inhouse and they intsall them on 75% of the cars they sell. I have seen a few of their dark colored cars and the install looks great. I am still worried about them cutting my paint when they do the custom install...

Make sure they use a "kit" and not a custom install. My buddy's car in TX was done by someone there and when he removed the film, there were cuts all over the car. Dealer just shrugged and said "we don't use them anymore".

Wow! That is terrible to hear. Makes me wonder if the risk of getting some cuts in the paint outweights a few rock chips...

I haven't installed them on any of my cars yet. I did see a buddy who had them installed, beautiful when new, but tends to get little hazy overtime from washing and environment, specially when his car is black.

When it comes to paint protection or clear bra, installation is the key. In this industry, a high turnover rate was seen due to the recession, which means there are very new installers on the market. Approach with caution and do ask how long the installer has been performing this type of application. There is much you will find on a Google search...for examples of photos / images of properly installed paint protection film, do a search under "Premier Clear Bra" or the likes. Good luck!
