My planned configuration

Didn't know that. Along those lines, people who I spoke to about European delivery of BMW and Mercedes told me you SAVE money over buying in the US rather than paying more. So it doesn't surprise me.

I received some very helpful information re: European Delivery from Jamie Dillon. She also OK'd posting this info:
Hi Norman,
You are always welcome to call me at any time if that would be easier for you. But to answer these questions:
1. We have a relationship with a few hotels in both Stuttgart and Leipzig that will give you discounted rates. Stuttgart would be the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin and the Hotel am Schlossgarten. I would personally recommend the Steigenberger. I stayed there myself in October and it is a really nice property and you can't beat the location. Right in the Stuttgart city center. Leipzig hotels are the Marriott Leipzig, and again, The Steigenberger Granhotel Leipzig which is a much newer property. We will cover one night's stay at both Leipzig properties that will be billed directly to us. We are also in contract phases with the Hotel Fuerstenhof in Leipzig which should be processed before you make your trip if that interests you as well.
I will send you two vouchers for entry into the Porsche Musuem, so that will be covered with your tour. As for Weissach, unfortunately that is something that is not available. It requires a lot of approval at the Executive and Board level to get clearance to visit there.
2. We can arrange the insurance extension for you directly with the factory. It actually covers 16 days total, so you would only need to extend it for a few days which shouldn't be too much out of pocket, but I will have to get an exact quote on that for you, and may not be able to do so until Monday. Hopefully that will not be a problem.
3. You will not need any special visas, just your driver's license and passport to verify your identity when picking up the vehicle. Everything you will need for the car (insurance and registration papers) will be given to you at the delivery.
4. We can have the European Navigation installed directly on to your PCM with out a problem. Just so you are aware, there is a $250 charge associated with that. The Navigation company charges a $500 licensing fee for the maps to be installed. We will cover half that cost, and you will be responsible half - just an effort to make it a little more fair. When you return the vehicle, the US Maps will be re-installed so they will be active when you pick it up again state-side. If you prefer not to pay that extra cost, the factory will supply a Garmin-type portable navigation device for free that you can use instead.
5. I will be sending you a welcome letter in the next couple weeks that will also contain some brochure information about the Factory itself, as well as a book that will help aid in planning your European Road tour. One we get closer to the actual delivery I will be sending you a final packet that contains all the specific details about your delivery and any other paperwork you may need to take with you. All the guidelines for returning the vehicle for shipment back will be outlined in that packet as well.
If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I am happy to help in any way I can. Good luck planning!
Kind regards,
Jamie Dillon
European Delivery Specialist, Vehicle Distribution
Additional notes: VAT in the amount of 19% will be added to invoice which will be returned when the car arrives stateside.
Hotel rates are approx $129-$149 versus more than that in Euros normally.

In Stuttgart,I much prefer the Hotel Meridien which has a great health club, with sauna, steam and nice pool
In Leipzig,I chose to stay at the Hotel Fuerstenhof, which i found more intimate:wine bar, restaurant and nice pool as well
When you arrive at the factory for your pick-up,you will have the opportunity to do a few laps on their track,be driven on the off road course, tour the factory with your own guide and then enjoy lunch at their panoramic restaurant, right below their museum
It is true that Porsche is unique among car makers offering European"Tourist"delivery,in that instead of getting a discount, you end up paying more..but that will be quickly forgotten once you hit the Autobahn the first time ... don't worry about any break-in,I drove my CT like I stole it from day one.and have never had a problem...instead,enjoy every mile of the Autobahn

What! No Espresso/Cognac?
I thought we had this settled...We were gonna have twinkies!
Awesome looking spec. I think you will be happy with the RS Spyder wheels, but as a guy who has had the Turbo II's and move down to 20's for winter, you will LOVE the Turbo II's.
I would really recommend the Burmester and the exterior package in black. Really finishes it off.
Looking forward to pics. Should be an AWESOME ride!

correct. Zero cost includes 16 days of insurance on your car and discounted travel (Lufthansa and certain hotels), one free hotel night in Leipzig (for Cayenne), a great info/tour and drive at the factory plus some other information sent to you in advance. You are responsible for the airfare there (discounts coming for Lufthansa), hotels (except first nite and possible discount arrangements), food, gas, etc. and you pay VAT which comes back to you later. If you want European NAV installed on your system, it's 1/2 price=$250. Much better than it was!

Notices that you got rear spacers. How does it look with only rear? There is no front spacer option from Porsche at all... Do you recommend just getting rear from a dealer or front an rear aftermarket to make for that agressive look?
