considering 2012 v6 cayenne
Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting here. I am considering the 2012 v6 cayenne for the family with it being the daily driver for my wife. Was hoping for some feedback from those with kids and whether you find the cargo capacity limiting. Again, this will be for the wife driving the kids (2 young children) to/from school and around town. We also like going on road trips and so cargo space is important. Also, how is the reliability and maintenance like for the cayenne. We are also considering the RR sport. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I bought a 2012 CV6 for my wife as a daily driver and we have 3.5y and 1.5y sons. We have plenty of room, no complaints at all as far as space for either kids or cargo. Only has 1700 miles on it, so no comment on maintenance. We truly love the vehicle and plan on keeping it for 7-10y.

I am extremely happy with my CS and I am sure you will be with the V6. The issue for you will be cargo space. Our family hauler is a MB GL which has significantly more cargo space than the Cayenne, which is why we use it for road trips, etc. (not to mention other haulers like suburban's etc). You should probably try and estimate your maximum road trip cargo requirements and see if the Cayenne will be suitable with a visit (or several) to the dealership. I remember the strollers, playpens, and other accoutrements from my early parenting days; quite a load. If you know anyone with a Cayenne that you could borrow for a few hours to "load it up", even better.
I can't speak to the RR other than the reliability issues I hear in general and specifically from a close friend; he has a 2008 (i believe) and has had significant shop time.

It's good advice to see what you could really fit. I have an X5 as well as the Cayenne and the spec sheet with all seats up would indicate that both vehicles have the same cargo capacity. However, the BMW has much more useable cargo space than the Cayenne. Not sure how they measure things but the Cayenne has a more severely sloping rear window and that may account for a lot of it. We can get by (2 kids but past stroller stage) for most trips but sometimes we need the X5 - which is too bad because the Cayenne is so much more comfortable and exciting to drive.

Thanks everyone for the input. We have a 5.5 yo and a 5 mon old so we have a good amount of cargo. I think we'll be fine for daily use, but the real concern is when we go on the longer road trips. Other than the cargo issue I think the cayenne is a slam dunk. The back seat appears to be quite spacious even with the front seats pushed further back. Does sliding the rear seats forward help with cargo space in the back?
