summer tires

hi guys

im looking to change the tires on my ctt as the rear tires are wearing out. im taking into consideration a set of michelin latitude sport or dunlop sport maxx 295/35R21.

Currently the car is fitted with p-zeros. As i know different cars ordered came with a different set of tires, any feed back guys?

Can I ask, how many miles you have on the tires. As I'm in the same boat as you.

I have a set of the PZeros and just passed the 5,000 mile mark. I had a failure on the right front and had to replace it(pothole damage). When I was looking at the tire I noticed how much more tread it had on it than the other 3 tires. I'll be very surprised if I get 15,000 miles out of the Pirelli's. I have never had tires wear this quick, and I'm not peeling out or tracking the SUV, or have ever even heard a chirp from them.

I keep hearing everyone say the Micheline Latitude Sports are supposed to last longer, but when I check out their specs they have a 220 rating and tread depth of 8.5/32 compared to the Pirelli with a 300 rating and 10/32, which indicate the Pirelli's should last longer.

I haven't read a post where someone has said, hey I had X tire then switched to Y and these have been my results, most the tire threads are very subjective and frankly here say of what people read about someones opinion.

I will say the Pirelli's have been awesome, they stick like glue are great in the rain and are quiet for a 21 inch 35 profile wide tire. My complaint of course is the short tread life, but when I was buying those 21 inch wheels I knew I was sacrificing something(beside a soft ride), that something I now know to be be tire life.

I would like to read actual numbers of what people are getting from different brands, so that maybe in 5-7000 miles when I need to get new tires, I can make a choice based on factual numbers not just "Everyone says Michelines are the best".

My CTT came with the yokohama and I made the switch to Pirelli due to the cheaper cost ($500 vs $400 ea). So far I have around 8k on them and the noticeable the difference is the tire is not as noisy and ride is softer. Not sure how long the Pirellis will last, but the Yoko lasted around 17k miles.

I would buy the Michelins. Smoother ride and will wear better in the heat. We do ship to Dubai. Please PM me if interested.

Just changed 4 21inch P Zeros for Michelin Lat Sport for my 2011 CTT. Only managed about 16K miles in the P Zeros. Did not change for better wear but kept on reading consumer reviews stating Michelin was a better tire. Michelin was the most expensive of the four options. Have only done about 500 miles in the new set, but I have no doubt they are superior. Slightly quieter, better ride (unless my imagination!) but definitely more confident grip on sharp turns. I have several roundabouts in my area and immediately felt the difference for the better in terms of grip and stability. Hope this helps.

i managed 25,000 miles with the set of p-zero fixed from the factory. It all depends on your driving pattern, im a frequent highway user and my foot is a bit heavy on the gas.

i think p-zeros had putten up good with the weather here as it might get too hot (way above 110 F)

damon@tirerack

thanks damon, shipping would be a hastle as they are available here appreciate it.

carlom001

thanks would take your opinion into consideration as i might switch to lat sports

Wow 25,000 miles, that's pretty good, especially in that climate. Hopefully I can squeeze some similar numbers out of my set of Pirellis.

Like you almost all my driving is highway and I have heavy foot but not doing any burn outs or trying to see how fast I can of 0-60, well not all the time.

When it does come time to change I am going to give the Michelins a try.

Damon, my CTT came with Yoks and I wasn't real happy with them, especially wear. You think the Michelins are the way to go, even though the wear rating is only 220? Would you get the N0s or N1s? Thanks.

Well I am in on this conversation now too since I just hit a pothole last night and now have a big bubble on the side of the Michelin. $500 for the tire + mounting and balancing. I am really happy that the 21" Sport design wheel looks ok.

For what it's worth.

I had the Yokohoma Advan Sport as my OEM tire on my last GTS and those lasted 18K.

Then I made the switch to Michelin Latitudes and those tires lasted me 27k with the same driving patterns.

My brother just got 30K out of his Michelin Latitudes that came OEM on his 2012 Cayenne S.

Between the Yoko, Pirelli's (I had them on my 2013 and I switched them out to the Michelin Diamaris), and the Michelin... The Yoko was the stickiest tire. I think for overall comfort plus performance, you really can't beat the Michelin.
