Wow. Thankfully no one was hurt and that is really all that counts.

Can I ask, what the speeds were and did airbags go off? You also mentioned the other SUV didn't look as bad off, I'm assuming it was t boned by your description.

I'm asking because I'm wondering if the use of aluminum is a big factor in the amount of damage done to the Cayenne.

Not sure how fast she was going, but can't be that fast as there was stop and go traffic on the road. Not sure if the damage was due to the use of aluminum, but if it saved the driver that's all that counts. Yes airbags did come out.

The Cayenne hit the Chevy at its fender, the damage seems to be just the fender, but who knows what's damaged underneath.

is it confirmed that it's totaled? i know that's easily going to hit 5 digit bill but considering how new it is (and i think insurance base a total loss in respect to the vehicle value), i was just curious.

regardless, 1 good reason to buy a second cayenne, right?

VinceV: the other driver was a woman.

Enilder: I don't know the details of the damage. It might still be repairable, but insurance decided to just write off the car. I'm glad they did, otherwise I'd be driving a 3 months old car with questionable repairs, and who knows what issues might pop up in the future due to the repairs. Yes the replacement car surely will be a Cayenne.

Glad it worked out! I've totaled my car twice so far (not by me but someone else totaled my car) and it's a nightmare no matter how well you fix it. I've taken one of them to "so-so" body shop and another one to a reputable body shop. I've not been in any accidents since then (thank God) but I think I learned my lessons.

Another long wait begins I assume.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate part of buying a cayenne...
