Goodbye our beloved Cayenne
3 months and 2800 miles later, some idiot driver made an left turn on the opposite side right in front of my wife. We are very fortunate she's ok, and have even more confidence in the safety of Cayenne.
It's too bad the Cayenne was just broken in, and I was just beginning to really enjoy driving it. It had the perfect options and colors. Now the search for a replacement starts again, Dejavu.
Guess I won't have to worry about the headlight recall afterall...
Drive safe!

wow. sorry to hear it. I remember when you were looking for your Cayenne because it was the same time as me.
Is the car considered totaled?
You going to get a new one?

Yeah insurance considered it totaled and agreed to pay the full amount minus some mileage deduction. But finding a replacement with the right color/options is going to be difficult.

Just curious, was it another truck? Dents look pretty high. Was it that blue X5 3.0 sitting next to you?
Maybe a time to upgrade to an CS?

It was a 2011 full size Chevy SUV. Damage seem more extensive on the Cayenne than the Chevy, could be how it was hit.
This photo was taken at a salvage yard. We just went to get our stuff out of the car. That blue bimmer is pretty beat up as well. There are some nice cars in this yard. Even a brand new Bentley with paper plate that was banged up pretty good. I guess they will be auctioned off as parts.
Frank you hit the nail on the head. I am seriously looking at the possibility of CS as my daily driver, and let the wife go buy something else. But I'll have to trade my 997 in, which makes sense since the last time I drove it was 3 weeks ago. It's just not getting driven much at all.

I have a question i,m new to the states when the car is totaled do you just leave it to rust or some one buys it from you at this salvage yard? cant you just sell the parts ? and how much do they pay if your gona leave it there.

The insurance company will tow it back to their facility and make a determination how much it will cost to fix it, and if it's worth fixing. In this case they determined it was totaled, so they worked out a replacement car cost and write us a check. We then sign the title away to them, and they auction the salvaged car off at their auction facility. You also have the first dib to buy the salvaged car before it goes on auction, but it will come with salvage title even if you manage to fix it to perfection.
The insurance policy states they need to replace it with an equivalent car, which in the case of this cayenne would just be the cost of the new one, since they can't find a discounted used car anywhere (and they did try). In other cases they would just pay you the blue book value, but usually they will go a little higher to keep you happy.
