DanZah is infamous around these parts
Could someone please give insight into a new Porsche experience owner (CTT):
1. What is GIAC software and what does it do / enhance / or replace?
2. Does it replace the current version Porsche vehicle software in the Cayenne?
3. Does the Porsche warranty stay intact and valid if GIAC is installed?
4. How much does it enhance performance, speed, or other metrics?
Thank you.

Great questions all. And I'm sure there are many here with way more experience that could educate us both.
Voiding the warranty seems to have a lot to do with your relationship with your Dealer.
My sales guy was vague on what would constitute the warranty being null but sang the praises of both GIAC and Ruf for the best ECU upgrades. He also said that the engine was capable of handling more torque and HP than the factory gives it. Porsche wants performance but also wants as close to zero problems as possible for 4 years or 50,000 miles.

I agree. Why the PM business? Just tell us how much it costs.

Hi Austin@GIAC
My service advisor told me my DME had to be "isolated" or"quarantined"(yikes!),I forget the exact term...which means its shipment back to my dealer was delayed for 2 days at least
Its the first I have ever ever heard of this
Please explain,
Thanks
Ps:silly me for getting my hopes up about this...
3 days and no news about my DME,and why the delay, quite disappointing

The only time your dealer will check or want to void your warranty is if there is damage to the drivetrain (engine, trans, clutch) and could be due to your performance mods. Thus the manufacturer will obviously want to make sure there was not an external reason for the warranty cost. Having said that, most simple mods (ecu tune, bypass pipes, CAI, plenums) have been widely used and tested with very little to no issues, or they would be discontinued products. For me it comes down to risk/benefit ratio, and if I am only doing these simple mods, the benefit far outweighs the risk.

As they mentioned previously, they are not trying to be difficult, they are following the rules of the forum. As sponsors they have do not want to risk being banned for breaking the rules.
Whats the big deal, ask them to send you a pm and they will.

Therefore,at the present time,I can't recommend this so called tune
You're better off e-mailing them/calling them on a weekday if you want immediate help.

I have no idea why your DME had to be "isolated" or "quarantined," I've never heard of that.

And I kind of still don't understand what happened to your DME. After you got it tuned you drove your car to the dealership?

Hi Panguard and thanks for the reply
Wednesday at lunch,I dropped my car off at the dealer
He was supposed to ship the DME to GIAC that very day,it would get tuned on Thursday, shipped back, then installed on Friday at the dealer
When I called the service specialist on Friday afternoon,he gave me that weird explanation about my DME
I am beginning to think that perhaps he is not as efficient or honest as i thought, and is trying to disguise that with some bogus explanation...
I can totally understand and accept a delay..but not the lack of being upfront about it
Just my 2c
Ps:could it be that they only started working on my DME,Friday
at 4:20?

I am sure I will, when I eventually get my CT back
Next time I want some mods on my Cayenne,I will take my CT over to the crew at Champion
I am sure that they are much more efficient than the people I am dealing with

Thanks for the helpful explanation Austin
My service advisor gave me incorrect info as far as how long the process would take, and has not kept me up to date
Because of him,I doubted you..sorry
You have been working so hard on this amazing software..and it's too bad not everyone has the same work ethic as you
I will use the people of Champion Porsche Motorsports from now on for any upcoming mods
Regards,
Gerald

I presently have Evoms w/ Fabspeed Cat Bypass pipes. I had your tune in my '08 Turbo and it was phenominal. Not that I am not happy with my Evoms unit, but if I change to yours, what about the fact I have the bypass pipes on my CTT? Is your tune optimized for them or does it not matter?

My guess is that you can't go wrong with extra hardware for something that was made for stock. If anything you'll make more power than what they quoted since they dyno'd on a stock car. Not sure though!
