Tubo Headlights on Cayenne S???

I just ordered the 2013 white Cayenne S recently, and I don't get to see it until Oct. When I was building my CS, I added the exclusive black headlights which I thought it will be the turbo headlights, that's why it called "exclusive". But after many researches and asking the sales to find out, the result comes out that I WILL NOT get the turbo headlights, they will only blacked out the CS light, so I decided to take that option out. The question is, if I buy the blacked turbo headlights separately, can I install it on my CS? Has anyone done this before? I ask the dealer to do it with extra $$, they still don't do it, because they said CS uses the bottom LED as a DRL where Turbo isn't. If I could install them, I will order them now, and get it done once I get my CS... For sure I'll take photos for you guys to share. TIA.

Oh, one more question, what is CTT? I see this a lot on the forum. Thanks

The black headlights have black interior casings instead of the standard silver ones. This gives them a smoked look during the day but doesn't have a different effect once the lights come on at night. They look particularly good on black cars and give light colored cars a sinister look.

I think you can only get the Turbo headlights and swap your CS headlights for them if you ordered dynamic headlights [Porsche Dynamic Light System, PDLS] on your CS. However, for the Turbo lights, you'll most likely require new wiring harnesses and other technical bits to accommodate the new lights. I really don't recommend getting them if you're keeping the regular horizontal DRL units below; the four LEDs in the headlight and the row below them will be a bit too flashy/overkill in my opinion. If you want the Turbo headlights, you might as well go for the full bumper conversion. Just my two cents.

CTT = Cayenne Twin Turbo, referring to the twin turbo engine in the Cayenne Turbo.

Hope this helps.

There is a post somewhere that covers this. If I remember correctly, you can switch to turbo headlight units but you will lose the current DRLs. You cannot have both because the electric current is not sufficient to powerful both. I might have that wrong but you can search for it.

I know that you lose the DRLs if you convert the non-Turbo bumper into the Turbo one since that model has its DRLs in the headlight instead of the bumper. Not sure what the case is if you install the Turbo headlights, but I strongly suspect the electrical aspect being unable to power both units.

Whatever is done will cost a few thousand dollars; the Turbo headlights alone are expensive! [Suncoast has the black ones listed for 2595 USD.]

Thank you khabah for your advice. I did get the PDLS, just the normal silver one. because the blacked out turbo headlight is almost same price as the blacked out CS PDLS light. And I'm not planning to turn on the 4 LEDs and the horizontal DRL at the same time. If I can get install the turbo headlights, I will see if they can do the 4 LEDs as a DRL and turn the horizontal DRL on ONLY when the headlight turns on. (this is what the CT is) I know this is going to re-program the computer, or something to do with the computer, and new wire harness. Since this is going to mess with the computer, I want to make sure it is okay to do it, otherwise my warranty will be void.

We retrofitted completely Turbo headlight (black) including DRL (4 spot LEDs) in Cayenne V6, you must rewire because some pins missing.

But you will not have warranty for problem caused by this tunning.

I didn't even notice that the DRL on the regular cayenne and the one on the turbo was different! haha.. well I didn't notice until you brought it up, I personally like the led strip drl on the regular cayenne over the turbo one even though I just placed an order for the Cayenne Turbo

Always happy to help a fellow [future] Cayenne owner.

Haha, you know Porsche: masters in subtlety. The devil is always in the details when it comes to their cars!

I think the four spot LEDs in the Turbo lights are very cool, like they're space-age laser beams locking onto a target in front of them. Unfortunately, the combination of headlight and intake light at night look like regular Cayennes at a quick glance - at least until the indicators are activated, because they are inside the rectangular intake light rather than as a strip below the DRLs on the other models.

I rather like both treatments and, as I'm coming closer to taking delivery of my own Cayenne S in two weeks, I have to say I have a soft spot for the strip lights...

Please share your car specs with us!

Personally I like the horizontal row of LEDs than CTT's 4 dots, it's much more visible far away.

In fact I remember reading a CTT owner's post here which didn't realize it came with the 4 dots DRL LED's, and was seeking advice on how to convert to the S' row of LEDs...

When did you had that done? Does it has any problem with the computer or anything now? do you have pic for it after the installation?

Thanks

So I guess its very personal of what you like about the lights. If I really can't get the swap, I'll just painted black... and I'll get the GTS or Turbo later on, so I will not have headache on the lights...
