How do you clean your wheel wells

I find cleaning the wheel wells to be very difficult. It seems like Porsche used a felt like material to line them and everything sticks to them. I've used a power washer, amazing roll off and still cant get the damn leaves off. Any suggestions?

I wind the car up to level II to give me as much room as possible, then use a bucket of hot water loaded with car shampoo and the large wheel woolie and sloosh that generously all around the arch.

Do that on all four and then have a cup of tea. - then come back with the pressure washer and it all comes as clean as new.

It’s the cup of tea that does the trick - never fails.

I think it has to be extra-strong builders' tea. This will do the job nicely:

Anybody know why Porsche use this felt like material in the well? It seems to be the least logical material to use there.

Can only presume it’s to keep the road spray levels down. Probably cuts down on road noise as well.

I find that with the fall leaves and wet roads, the wet shredded leaves that stick and dry to the inside of the wheel wells are a ***** to get off, even with a pressure washer. For some reason it didn't even dawn on me to use my air suspension and raise it up to use a brush. I was cursing that I couldn't fit a brush in there since I always drive in sport mode. I guess I was having a blond moment.

Many wheel cleaning brushes just aren’t big enough to get all the way to the back of a Cayenne’s wheel and also get deep into the well. These are just the ticket - they’re called wheel woolies and they’re one of my favourite bits of cleaning equipment.

I would go easy with the pressure washer, it is just fabric with a backing is all. MB has been doing this on their SUV's for years. I found that pressure washing the felt will cause it to (for the lack of a better term) unravel or raise up and not look so great. The pressure washer will cause the surface to go from a smooth black surface to a bumpy worn out greyish surface.

Simple green, soft headed brush and lots of water, treat it like a painted surface otherwise it wont look all that great in short order. I only pressure wash the felt once a year now.
