I only had light weight fly fishing line, about 3 lbs test. Trim tools don't scratch the paint if you get proper ones (they're designed for removal of interior and exterior trim). Point on time spent was to indicate either fishing line method or trim tool method is a lot faster than wheel well cover removal method (agreed that my 10 min estimate was generous, probably more like 5-7 min). I'm not suggesting one method is better than the other as all methods work fine, just a personal choice.
