I love everything about the Macan except the size. The Cayenne is already short on utility already, I can't even fathom the Macan.

This is my issue with both. I'd look at a Macan when they bring the diesel to replace our 328 sedan, but not to replace the Cayenne.

I love my 958, but the rake on the d-pillar and seats that don't fold flat really limit its utility for me. The P!glet looks to be even less utility.

Even though it is not for me, I am sure it will be a strong contender in its market segment.

with a $60k budget, i am considering the Macan S. It is faster, better gas mileage than a new Cayenne base.

i am also considering a used 2008 GTS.

for people that doesn't need the hauling capacity but want a 4x4 with sports car handling and reasonable mileage, i think macan nails that market.

I agree. I don't tow or haul a large amount of people or gear, so the extra room my GTS provides is wasted.

Like the smaller size but still want an SUV.
PDK is confirmed at this point, no? Acceleration part is unknown though.

IMO, the cayenne is the perfect size

Macan seems to hit the perfect spot if I live in Asia or small European country, but not the US

it is, however, the perfect car for the wifey though

Funny….I've always considered the Cayenne to a be "chick car". But it's never bothered me. I love it anyway.

I don't think he meant to say that the Macan is a "chick car".

I am also looking for a 2nd family car, one that is smaller than the Cayenne but still big enough to lug around 2 small kids and all their gear. My wife and I recently had a Audi Q5 TDI loaner and thought the size was a perfect fit and serious contender for the second car. While not a Macan, I believe it is in the same size category. Even though it will be my wife's DD, I don't think of it as a "chick car".

The thought of a Macan has crossed my mind, but I would like to see/drive it in person before making any assumptions. From what I heard, most of the allocations for this year have been taken and for those of you who are fortunate enough to get your hands on one, I'm waiting to hear your feedback on the Macan.

For me, I am leaning towards the Q5 TDI. Amazingly diesel at the local pump is 2 cents above premium and I love the mpg for shunting kids around.

It 'kind of' is, though! Same with the Cayenne. Not that I care at all either way, but that's how some (a lot) of people look at them.

The Audi Q5 definitely sounds like a great ride. I've also read/heard great things about the SQ5. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

As far as the Macan, I'm sure others will have reviews on it before me, but I'll post up my thoughts as soon as I get a little time behind the wheel.

And , because of it's light weight, the Macan is not eligible for accelerated depreciation if it's a work vehicle.

Actually that tax loophole expired 12/31/2013. There is debate on whether that will be renewed or not.

Now that I have a CD, I would stay with diesel engines. Had the Macan with diesel engine been around last year, I may have considered it.

Right now, quite happy with the CD. The best long distance SUV I ever had.
