PCM now shows album art

The PCM is now able to show album art. This is so cool. BMW and MB have been doing it for several years. Porsche has finally caught up.

Thanks. Have to see if I can get mine reflashed to add that. The only reason I got the NAV system was for the iPod interface and the lack of album art if one of the many reasons I'm severely disappointed in that decision.

Please report back how it turns out. As I want to update my Panamera's PCM software to display album art if it can be done.

Can you test if it will also play video? The bimmer idrive system allows playing of videos.

Porsche does offer an optional TV tuner module in certain markets, so the PCM is capable of displaying video, but it may not be legal in US/Canada unless if the transmission is at Park.

Finally heard back from my dealer. They say it's not possible to add the functionality as a re-flash. They claim that a whole new PCM is needed. I called another local dealer too and got the same story (but quicker).

I highly doubt there is any significant difference in hardware between the Oct and Nov PCMs and since they have the ability to re-flash the systems when needed I don't see why it's not a simple re-flash...

The post Nov, 2012 PCM does have a 40gig Jukebox, so perhaps there really is a hardware difference.

Had my 2011 in on Wed and they said the same thing...needs hardware. They updated to the latest possible which is 2.45.
