2012 Cayenne aftermarket tow trailer hitch
Wondering if anyone has installed the Curt Mfg tow trailer hitch (or any other aftermarket tow hitch) on their 958? Looking for some feed back on the product and trying to determine how difficult it was to install? I'd definitely purchase the OEM tow hitch if I was really going to tow anything large but I'm just going to put a bike rack on it and found the Curt Mfg tow hitch on the web. TIA.

Should be fine for your purposes. But let any subsequent owner know the hitch is only rated to 6000#. You might also want a Porsche-certified body shop to install it, cuz I'm pretty sure the job involves removing the rear bumper cover

I picked up the car at the body shop and they said it was a really straight forward install. Bolt-on as described, no surprises and he commented on the good design. It looks good but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. I don't anticipate any issues.
I ended up getting the Curt Mfg trailer hitch from etrailers.com. Great price, free shipping and showed up in 4 days. As I mentioned I had my body shop do the install.

Can you share the bodyshop info? I might make the drive up to have them do it.
I ordered the Curt also. Did some research on the install and it basically involves removing the bumper cover, and then replace the steel bumper bar with the Curt hitch (4 bolts). Straight forward, but removing the bumper worries me.

McCurdy's Body Shop in Pasadena. Give Bill McCurdy a call they do excellent work. Tell him that Andrew sent you.
I took a look at the install instructions and videos as well and I had the same feeling about removing the bumper.

The hitch came in today. Didn't expect it to be this heavy. The install might look easy, but my back would not like me trying to lift it. Called around and it seems the going price for install is $250. Does that sound about right?

I decided to do the install myself. Turned out to be not too difficult, and I'm just an average joe without much experience working on cars. Trickiest part was removing the tail lamps, which had a ball locking mechanism not visible from outside. But once that was figured out, everything followed the instruction accurately. I can post more details if anybody is interested in tackling this.
The Curt hitch weight a lot more than the stock bumper beam it replaces. Hopefully there won't be any side effects.
Now I need to read up on bike racks. Saw that Thule Apex 4 at REI and it's very nice!

How funny. I just had my tow bar removed because I didn't like the look! I wish I could have picked up your old bumper reinforcement! I'm keeping my old one for resale incase a future buyer needs a hitch. One thing to consider is the wiring for the trailer. There was a module on mine that lights could be hooked up to. My body shop guy hid it under the bumper for future possible use. He said it was pretty extensive wiring. How did you address that issue?
*** Just saw you're using it for bikes, so no lights needed I suppose..
