Damn PCM is crashing suddenly

Try removing everything from the Jukebox and then do a reset. If it still crashes then we know it's the PCM itself and not the media/album art that is screwing the thing up.

Bummer; looks like you do have a faulty PCM. Like Rak said, at least you are under warranty. Good luck tomorrow.

I brought the CTT to Porsche yesterday and the PCM shut down and restarted twice on the way there but they said they didn't know what to do and that they would call someone up the line for advice.
But even though the shutting down would happen every 5 minutes or so previously, when I left Porsche it hasn't done it since and they made no adjustments- strange. I loaded songs back in to the juke box and no crashing however now I can't synch my LG Verizon phone up any more through Bluetooth. I have done it many times before and tried everything but no go.
Took a friends cell phone and it synched right up to that. GREMLINS!~!!

With Porsche Online Service AHA radio app, Aux Bluetooth, email/message display and read out, iPod and USB flash drive playback, Jukebox, album art display, Navi with online Google search, and soon-to-be released Porsche Car Connect with remote control capability from smart phones, things are just going to get worse. Today's car audio is a lot more than a radio and CD player. Most Porsche dealers simply do not know how to handle these types of problems. I think every dealer should have a trained specialist to specifically deal with infotain related issues.

seems to me once you've connected a phone with bluetooth, you give it a name and it remembers it so it should be a choice in the phones to connect to on some screen--I forget how to get to it exactly. On that screen you see a list of the phones you've connected including for me, my phone, my wife's phone and a person's phone who I connected with months ago. Because of that, I don't understand why you have done it many times when it's stored in the system unless you never stored it or else there is a problem with that as well.

I assume when you went to your dealer they took the car back into their shop. At the very least they hooked it up to the diagnostics to see if error codes were thrown..The fact that they sent you back on your way to talk to higher ups is not acceptable. Since the system hasnt crashed (yet) but the phone wont pair rest assured some tech fiddled with something.
I hazard a guess your gremlin will rear its ugly head again in some fashion.
I'd start campaining for a new PCM unit..Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you dont ***** you dont get

I did have the phone show up in the list but it looks like it is connecting but then disconnects itself and never actually works.
I did the find phone and everything else like usual but something is up.
RAK. they took the car in and sat in it with me while I explained the problem but they didn't touch anything. It is strange how it stopped shutting down after I left with the car. So now everything but the pairing is working. I was able to pair with someone else's phone quickly.
My mechanic has a new GTS so I am going to look for him and try pairing my phone with his.
Incidentally, he never checked his oil after 4000 miles and I had to show him how and he was also down half way on the display.

Update:
I decided to try a system update with my phone with Verizon by doing the *228 thing. After the update I went to the car and it paired immediately and is now working. So all is well for now.
I will give it some time and see if it all holds up and I am on record with the dealer about the problem. They also said I have the latest PCM version.

Does seem strange the dealer didn't have some concrete thing to look at. Keep records yourself of issues as I will be doing just in case if problem repeats itself a "reasonable number" of times. Glad it's working now. Keep us updated.

Thanks N,
I called them and told them that it has been fine for 2 days and that they will be hearing from me if it happens again even once.
Everyone is wishing you luck with the engine swap.
